What makes me feel bad?

I really feel bad when I see new members of mylot who post discussions of only 2 or 3 words. They think they are earning money when we know those discussions will be deleted. I have actually reponded to a couple knowing my response and the discussion will be deleted just to tell them what they are doing wrong. What is it...do people join a site and not read the faq's or the confirming email they get telling them how it works here? Don't you feel bad when you see that? I just saw about 6 new discussions where their rating is 0 and everyone of their discussions will obviously be deleted. Did you read the faq's when you started here on mylot? Did you read the confirming email they sent you? How can people not realize what they are doing wrong? I don't get it!

You are right,my friend.Mylot wants us to be descriptive and send quality posts.I have seen discussions that were one liners, but I have never seen any discussion that consisted of only one or two words.I have read the faq carefully and so before responding to a discussion I try to ascertain if it might get deleted.I never violate the guidelines and never respond to a discussion that I think violates guidelines.

I can't imagine anyone starting out on any site on the internet and not reading the faq's or rules of the site. I don't usually respond to anything that violates guidelines except those I know aren't good enough for them to make any money. I know it will get deleted but I'd rather tell them than let them keep on doing the wrong thing. If it gets deleted so be it I go on to better discussions.

I agree with you.Joining any site without knowing or being careless about guidelines is useless, because you can't continue with the site for long.We must know that Mylot is very strict about its guideline.

Don't feel bad. Let's stretch our patience. It's a pity to newbies for not doing the right thing in Mylot. For those of us who have already grown scales here, we may serve as their guiding lights. Let's tell them to go visit the rules and policies so often. It's for their good and for the good of us all here in Mylot. Happy posting for all of us!

I wonder how long it takes them to realize what their doing. They probably get discouraged when they don't see any earnings after starting a few discussions.

Constant reminders will make them tread the right path. See small pebbles? They were once part of boulders- big stones. Why are they small ones now. It's the result of mother nature's wear and tear. The cold air, the hot sun, the wind and the rain do little by little flattened mountains. This is our role, mylot way.

I would respond and tell the person that their discussion will be deleted.. And how they can make a discussion that will stay in the future... When I refer someone to mylot I tell them to really read the faq and the policy before really using mylot.. So then their rank wont be affected by newbie mistakes..

When we refer someone I think the best thing to do is explain it to them before they even get started.

Yes this is true.. I actually got two new referals this week.. One of the first things I did when I found out; was I sent a message wecloming them to the site and explaining the importance of the rules..

I have the same feelings to. Do you mean the guy/girl who posted topics like role of optometrist, population of India and role and the only thing they posted was it is important? I was kind of laughing out loud. People like that do not even know, I think, what a discussion is. Also, they should read the guidelines before.

They make me laugh to but then I feel bad for them. I think if you don't know the rules you shouldn't bother being a member.

There have been many discussions by senior members trying to instruct newbies on the ways of mylot. They give them links to the guidelines & FAQs, make suggestions and just all kinds of help in general. I think a lot of new members come from FB and they think they'll get rich by posting all kinds of nonsense. Some of them maybe don't know what a discussion is. And others post a question and never bother to comment on their responses. When I don't get comments I don't respond to that person's discussions anymore. And, no, many (most?) of them don't read the email they got or the guidelines. I did when I first joined. So, I don't really feel bad for them. I don't understand how you can join any site and say you agree to their terms without even knowing what those terms are. I wonder if offline these same people sign their names to any papers that come their way without reading it first.

sometimes I wonder if it's just that English is not their first language and they don't understand. If that's the case they should just look at all the other discussions and responses and see how long they are.

Well, maybe they only do selective reading of the FAQs or guidelines, meaning once they have skimmed over the money earning part they just go and post away whatever without bothering to finish the whole guidelines. They might have just the purest intention of being able to make a few extra money, but of course I'm sure they also appreciate that some old timers would really take the time and trouble to int this out to them despite knowing that the whole thread or discussion is going to be deleted anyway. But then, it is really frustrating because we all try to make this site very conducive to some really cool and informative discussions and it would be so if only we would all stick o the ground rules the first time we sign up.

People should know that your not going to get rich on mylot or anywhere else for that matter. Just reading discussions and responses they should see the right way to do it.

Sometimes people are in too big of a hurry to get started and don't even know where to find the faqs. I feel bad for some of them and used to answer their questions but it ended up getting to the point to where I would just send them a personal message and if they didn't check their messages, then they were losing out on being part of mylot.

I think when we get the confirmation email it has all the faq's in it or they can just look at the bottom of the page. Just seems easy to me.

To be honest with you, I did not read the FAQs when I first started. I only check or look into them when there is something I need to clarify. Of course, in my Mylot lifetime, I did not get to respond 1 to 2 words since I like to give a piece of my mind whenever I reply to a topic. I'm glad that there is someone like you who takes the time to inform other Mylotters on how to do this right. Just be gentle though. We're here to make friends and learn from one another. Definitely, hats off to you, my friend...
