I was a late starter when it came to knitting, maybe because its because i'm left handed, I don't really know. So I was 12 years old when I knitted my first scarf, it was very holey as I dropped many stitches while knitting the scarf, and the casting on and off was very loopy!!! BUT...... I did it.. I knitted my first scarf! My knitting hasn't progressed that much in all of the following years, I can cast on and off neatly and follow a basic pattern as longs as its in what they call garter stitch. SO.... how old were you when you knitted your first scarf?

I don't remember when I knitted my first scarf, but the first thing I knitted was a dog blanket for my (tiny) terrier cross. I was a young teenager, probably 13 or 14. I'm glad the dog wasn't too picky.

The dog wouldn't have minded if you had droped a few stitches etc, he would just enjoy being warm

28! I didn't have anyone to teach me how to knit so I had to teach myself from books... my first scarf looked like a zigzag I do much better now though...

I also knitted my first scarf (my first anything) when I was about 12. I did one side purl and the other side palin and so the sides curled in. . It was a learning curve (pun intended). It was red and white for my football team. I also tried to do tassels on the ends but I failed in that department. I've knitted many jumpers and cardigans since then.

Oh you braggart! I wish I knew how to knit. My grandmother can, actually both of my grandmas could although one is now gone. They have done some wonderful work and I'm happy to have some of it as a keepsake.

I don't remember how old I was. I do, however, remember my mother trying to teach my sister to knit and my sister wondering why her scarf wasn't getting any longer... turns out she was just moving the stitches from one needle to the other, without actually knitting.

Thats cute, I reemmber winding the wool round the needles at a young age and saying that I was really knitting!! The things we try and get away with when we were children.

Wow good for you! I honestly had kits for this when I was younger, but never learned doing it right so I left that activity behind.. @.@
