Christmas is just around the corner. When we go to mall, the spirit of Christmas is in place already. This is the much awaited time of the year for kids and even grown ups too. Lots of toys, giving and receiving gifts left and right, the preparation of all kinds of food and fruits on the dining table and lots of party hopping list all the way. Perhaps this is the kind of Christmas for the rich and famous. But what truly makes you happy during Christmas? Others can still afford to smile and pray together despite the emptiness on their dining table. How about you, what makes you smile and truly happy this Christmas?

I am living here in the city and my mother and brothers are in the province. I used to go home every December to celebrate Christmas with them. Although Christmas is not that so much felt in the province because it is always raining and there is no too much decorations and Christmas lightnings and events unlike here in the city that Christmas spirit is everywhere, I still want to go home, spend and celebrate Christmas with my family. And it is the true essence of Christmas for me.That is my happiness.Having a reunion with my old friends is just a package.

Hi kokomo, your very true indeed - no matter what and no matter where - there is no place like home. In fact christmas is celebrate each day - as long as we give love sincerely - its christmas already. even no gifts, no lights, no carols, no snow - Christmas will always be in hearts of the people we love the most and this is happiness for sure.

We don't celebrate christmas only at scouting (5-7 years old) we will have a brunch together and each kid can invite someone. At home we will have some relaxing days (pyama day everybody likes) doing nothing. No need to cook. We will not let ourselves forced to buy presents or do things we don't like. The shops are closed on December 25 and 26 so also no change to shop plus no visitors/mail man etc at the door. These are the best 2 and most relaxing days of the year everybody is looking forward too. Reading, watching old movies, doing nothing and if it's over we don't have all those financial problems and stress many people (here) mention about. BTW we have a celebration at December 5th, called: St Nicolaas! We are busy making a surprise for someone (you make something, hide the present inside of it and have to write a poem about that person's mostly her/his bad habits or behaviour) which is a tradition. So I am running out of time since I have to help out my 2 youngest as well and they also have to make one for someone in their class.

Hi WakeupKitty, Much appreciated your response, and as i visualize your sharing on your December 5th festive, its gonna be an exciting one. Well, what ever celebration we have, what is important is how we celebrated it - as you said - QUALITY TIME with love ones is priceless and unforgetable. Have a great day.

I love Christmas time for the fact you get to spend time with family and loved ones. This year we are celebrating at my mom's Christmas eve & then Christmas day we celebrate with my dad and then after that I'll be spending time with my boyfriend and opening our gifts together. I have been doing my Christmas shopping since October and just about finished, next 3 pay checks I'll be done just before Christmas and can't wait. I better planned myself then I did last year because Last year I waited until my last pay check a few days before Christmas which sucked. This year will turn out a whole lot better.

Mall are full of Christmas. That means, shops want to sell us things we can give others as presents. I don`t see it that way and I`m getting ready my recycled glasses to start making my preserves to give out. I don`t know yet where I`ll go this Chritmas. I suppose it will be again where my youngest granddaughter lives. It`s easier to gather there and when the baby needs her bed, there it is. I like to be with my family on Christmas and it has been like that almost all the time.

Christmas is one of the best time of the year. Whether you are for or against Christmas it seems like a happy time of the year. My favorite thing about Christmas is being able to give family members gifts and watching the expression on their faces when they open them, not to mention how happy my children get. It just gives me a sense of peace to see all the fmaily together and enjoying everyones company.
