I have all kinds of medical problems and never know when something is going to pop up. This morning as I was on mylot all of a sudden I felt light headed and like I was going to vomit. I hadn't eaten anything yet so I made a quick bowl of cereal and after that I just got on the couch and put my head on the pillow. The nausea did go away but I feel like there's still something going on. I hate to call 911 and I did put a call thru to my dr and am waiting to hear from her. I decided to get back up and log in here to keep my mind busy and so far so good. How long do you wait before you call 911 or do you have someone who can take you to the er when you need to go. That's my problem...I don't have anyone who could take me. What would you do?

here in Ontario (Canada) where i live, we have Telehealth Ontario which is a toll free phone number that you can call for free and has registered nurses on hand that answer (I this for a fact because my bosses wife is one) and they have a doctor that they can consult and they will tell you if you should go to your doctors, a walk in clinic or to the ER. it is a very handy service and is 24/7. even i have used this service before.

Hmm I have experienced that but i live alone we don't have 911 here in the Philippines or something like that here. I got scared because I kept on blowing until I have nothing to extract from stomach anymore. I thought I was going to die, said my prayers and ask forgiveness from my sins. I couldn't stand it really I thought I was having stroke. I called my landlady and asked her to bring me to the hospital. Call a cab or taxi or wait patiently for 911. You are fortunate to have that 911 emergency service. Us here nothing to rely on.

we call neighbors. Transportation is not a problem because there are a lot of transportaion in the street and people in times of emergency are always generous and helpful.

The medics are always there for you, so if you feel like you need help at any time, you should call 911 right on the spot. It's definitely easier than trying to call your friend - only three numbers.

I never use to feel like that but now that I'm older (same age as you) it happens to me occasionally if I get too hungry - light headed and sick to my stomach. Once I eat I'm okay. If I get too tired I get very lightheaded and even a little dizzy. For me, I believe they're changes due to age. Because, as far as I know, I have nothing wrong with me. And I remember my mother, as she got older (into her early 70's), would say she was so tired she felt sick if she had been up too late. As for going to the emergency room, I abhor hospitals and would rather die at home than go to the hospitals near my house. There is one I would go to but the ambulance services around here don't go that far. It's about 1/2 hour away. I have a Jitterbug phone and in it there's a live nurse # (free service) to call. I would probably use that. I hope your doctor has called by now.

You should talk to your doctor about your specific medical issues and ask them what to look out for. For a normal, healthy person, being light-headed and nauseous doesn't warrant going to the ER. But after a head injury, it can be a sign of neurological damage. Know what signs to watch for which might be indicators of something more serious (there is a general list, but you should consult your doctor since you said you have all kinds of medical problems).
Don't go to the ER for minor issues or non-emergencies. This costs WAY too much and puts a strain on the hospital as well. Your PCP should be able to advise you.

I am not sure if it would be time to go to the ER or not.. If you havent recieved an answer from your doctor yet; and you still feel the same I would call the ER and see what they have to say.. If you do need to get there I would call everyone or anyone to get there.. I hope you are doing better soon..
If I am not doing well and need to go to the ER.. I usually dont go.. I am single mom with two young children.. No one to rely on and to get there at any time.. I have a couple people I can ask in worst case scerinro; but I would have to wait for them to get home..

I am not sure either if it is the time to go to the ER because I have not been in a situation like this before. i guess it is hard when you are all alone by yourself. I can say when it is really out of your hand then is the time to call 911 and then to ER.. Good to know you are feeling better now. Thanks for sharing and have a wonderful day ahead..
