Lately I have been looking into making my own beauty products. I have made lip balms, face masks and even my own makeup remover. All of the stuff I made myself felt a lot better than the things you would have to pay a lot of money for.
All this got me thinking that maybe there are a lot of other cosmetics and beauty products I could make myself. I haven't been able to find much that I could do with out spending a ton of money on the supplies, so I was wondering if anyone else is doing the same thing I am.
What have you made? What do you want to make? If you have made anything in particular that you think is incredible please share how you made it! I'm sure I speak for everyone when I say we all want to know your secret!

I wouldn't say that I make too many "mixes". I find that coconut oil is awesome for my skin (face and body) as well as my hair. I usually spread some on my face at night for a few seconds, then take a hot washcloth to steam it for a few seconds and then rinse off. Of course you can just wipe it off, but I find that the effect lasts longer this way.
I also keep some witch hazel around as a blemish treatment. Surprisingly, the coconut oil treatment has resulted in less blemishes, but I still get a few here and there.

Coconut oil is very good, so is grape seed oil, either one make great moisturizers. I cannot remember who, but some well known actress only will use grapeseed oil. I get them just in the regular cooking oil sections of the store. I agree, witch hazel is excellent.

I think of cosmetics as being the colors that you use, like blush and eye liner. I have not made those. My grandma did, though, when she was young. There are many natural things that feel great and are less toxic for beauty treatments. You can use Tea Tree oil to dab on blemishes and it heals them up. My mom used to put egg yolks, or mayonaise on our hair. Warm a small bowl of olive oil and soak your finger nails to moisturize the cuticles. Use sugar to scrub. I knew a woman who would cleanse her face with a half lemon dipped into salt. I have used henna to dye my hair. . . the only way to get it out is to cut your hair, so only do it if you want really permanent color. Henna paste will color your skin reddish brown. I believe Adrien Arpel had a book out about making your own beauty products, like thirty years ago.

Ooh you reminded me of sugar scrubs! I used to keep a mix of sugar/olive oil/squeeze of lemon juice near the shower. It made my skin feel amazing! The lemon juice isn't necessary, but it does keep the mixture from clumping and a little lemon juice is a good cleanser.

When I was a teenager, a friend and I used some cheap eyeshadow and mixed it with petroleum jelly to make lip gloss in different shades. It was pretty easy. Nowadays, I don't like petroleum jelly as much, but I am sure you could try it with other moisturizing substances.

My aunt introduces me to this mixture she use calamansi (citrus small fruit in Phil like orange) mix with milk, then while you take a bath u spread the mixture all over your body after u put it in abt mins to 30 mins you rinse it well and that's it!. I have done it 2x a week for almost 3 mos and i see a very wonderful result my scar dark spots on my skin become lightened that it almost get disappears. Your light skin color looks so soft and so clean.....
other thing is Egg, you put it in bowl and serve as a cleansing the skin, after you put the egg on your face leave it for 5 mins then rinse you will feel a cleaner skin....
NO chemicals all are natural ingredients that never harm our skin.

I've been thinking to make a perfume and a soap. Ingredients are simple, but to get them the way you to is the difficult part.

Sometimes I would rather use something that I have made as a lip gloss instead of going and paying a lot of money for it and ending up with a shade I don't like or one that looks nothing like it did under the store lights. I can pick my own flavors and colors to use and end up with a lip gloss that is unique and different and made from things that I have and you probably already have around your house.
I have a detailed way to make lip gloss on my page here: http://voices.yahoo.com/au-naturale-homemade-yummy-flavored-5371295.html?cat=69

That's so cool that you can make your own cosmetics. It is much more natural and it is safer without more chemical stuff. I just wonder how long is the valid time. Because you don't use the preservative or something like that. And therefore your homemade cosmetics may not last for a long time.

Homemade cosmetics are innocent apart from it saves tones of money. Homemade cosmetics are fresh and dont have any side effects on our beauty health. Rather we must introduce the fashion of using homemade cosmetics. Rather we must keep a modern book on how to prepare cosmetics being a home. Stay fine.
