All of us suffer from aches and pains at some time or the other. Some have body pains always. How does one deal with the aches and pains. Take medications every time or rest and let the pains go the natural way.

First of all try to know the cause of pain, it may be due to many causes, age, weight, physical activity are other factors too.. Better to avoid pain killers, you can apply some balm or luke warm mustard oil and massage

I like to use natural remedies when I get pains and aches. I dislike taking medications because after a while it becomes less effective and we get addicted to it too much. If I cannot tolerate the pain any longer, then my last option would be taking medicines.

Its not good tobe addicted to medications. I avoid that as much as possible. Unless ofcourse as you say if the pain is unbearable then we have no other option.

Hi Mayka! You did not tell which paticular ache you are referring to? Is is body-ache, stomach-ache, headache, toothache, legs or arms ache, backache or heart-ache? Treatment in each of the case will differ. It is said that - "When the going gets tough, toughs get going." If one is having any kind of pain, one of the remedy is to distract oneself and divert one's attention in other words 'to get busy in something'. As far as I am concerned, if it is minor or bearable ache, I take rest and the ache subsidises. If it is persisting and intense or severe then I take pain reliver to get rid of it. And last but not the least is if our own methods do not work, we need to consult a Doctor for solutions.

It is good to hear that you avoid pills to the extent possible. Using ointment is safer than taking pills.

This is about pain in general. I have seen some of my colleagues taking a pill everytime they have some pain. I try to avoid pills unless ofcourse it is unbearable. I too take rest for minor aches and pains. Sometimes an ointment or massage if the pain is more.

I use Tapping or EFT if you prefer to give me relief from pain, once this is has worked I use yoga to help repair the damage to my body. One must remember that pain is the body's method of bring attention to a problem. So one must be careful of just popping a pain pill or any other relief that has not taken into consideration a problem that may need more intense medical care. Many things like heart problems, internal infections or any number of other problems first show signs of pain.

What exactly is Tapping and EFT? Never heard these terms before. Yes I agree that pain is body's method to bring atention to a problem. But we tend to ignore the problems always.

I get this problem sometimes, previously i use to take medicines without any prescription ,but now i am not doing so. Take a hot bath bath, everything will be set right or if the problem still persists then visit a doctor.

I too am not able to regularly take leave from work. But still avoid pain killers as much as possible because it is not a good habit. Any exertion does give us a lot of aches and pains.

I hardly take pain killers for any aches. Now it is winter time and I already have cervical problems, in winter it spreads to hands and legs too. I changed bathing water from cold to lukewarm. If the pain is too much, then I prefer to go to a doctor than taking self medication. I do apply tiger balms on my back neck, it give me some relief. Some times I used to get headaches and I know it is just because of lower water intake. If the head ache is severe then I prefer to get some steam, which can give quick relief. I felt, we must find the reason of the ache then treat properly. Taking pain killers or applying pain relief ointments can give a temporary relief but the problem will persists. Belated Diwali wishes to you.

Belated wishes to you too. I do not have regular pains as such. Just that last weekend was shifting my house and that made me very very tired. But I refused to take any pain killers and preferred resting at home since my boss had sanctioned me leave.

Do some exercise, it's better than taking medicine. When I feel pain and body ache- I jog and have a brisk walk for 30 minutes and that really helps me a lot. I never depend on medicine especially with pain reliever as it give us health risk and complications too.

I hardly get time for jogging or going for a brisk walk because I am out to work most part of the day. And my job makes me sit on a chair most part of the day. I too avoid pain killers as much as possible. Prefer taking a bit of rest when I am stressed out and tired.

I don't usually take medications unless I can't handle the pain in terms of aches like toothache and headache. As to body ache, there are over the counter medicines but I don't take that. I just take a nap or take a full bed rest. If I have extra money, I do have a body massage

Hi, Good to see you after a while here. Not everytime i depend on medicines. Some exercises are good to keep us fit. If the pains and aches are chronic and nothing is helping you, then it is advisable to go for an entire medical check up and get the things sorted out. There is some good ayurvedic oil/tubes from Baba Ramdev's medical store which i heard is a real pain reliever, though i haven't used it personally.

Hi friend, it is really hard to tolerate with huge pains and aches, but we are in need to deal with it. Mostly i will take some good sprays and pain killers to come out from it. If i have free time, i will take rest for a while

You are right in saying that its hard to tolerate severe aches and pains. If it is just too severe we should take pain killers. I avoid sprays in Office because not everyone would like the smell.

Massage and rest. Hot & Cold treatment too. I hate medications, they have so many effects. I love the naturalist way possible.

if the pain is bearable, try something natural or herbal, like for body pain, try a warm bath, or an oil liniment to apply in a particular swollen muscle. taking meds are ok, but you have to feel your body whether you need it or not.

There are a lot of people who take medications for even minor aches and pains. I prefer taking rest instead of popping a pill for every reason. Sometimes I try a little massage or ointment.

I always look for an alternative to medication. I would prefer to rest or have a relaxing shower or bath. I am even more of a healthy diet advocate for better living and feeling. Sometimes when the pain gets to be too much, I would prefer a pill. I think pain is a good indication of what is going within your body, but as soon as I know what is wrong, I will choose to do what I need to, to find relief. I am feeling achy right now and a warm shower and rest along with good food has been effective.

I was involved in a car accident four months ago that has left me with some lasting back pain. Since the time of the accident I've been under a doctor's care for it and part of their care involves physical therapy, a TENS machine and massage therapy. While I don't know that the light exercise that they have me doing is really making a difference, I really do find that the massage and TENS therapy is helping me. I believe that after I am released from their care I will continue to have massages on a regular basis because they are very good for you in dealing with pain, overall health and organ health.

a pleasant day mayka123, ask for me here, the aches and pains that i feel right now and even before are not physical pains that can be treated by any medicine or pain reliever. and even cannot be solve if i will just sleep and take rest. though i can have a peace and quiet time if i sleep but the moment i open my eyes, the pain in my heart is still there sitting inside. honestly, i find it difficult to deal with the pain and aches that i am carrying since my family members are stake here. that is why i keep on asking strength from God, that He always give me the wisdom how to deal and carry this trial. as i am not seeing or getting any moral support from them. though i know they are physically present but they are not doing the support that a family member should do. i am just hoping that one day, God will give me the answers to my prayers as well as my family will recognize my importance to them. nice topic discussion.

At most time, I would let the pains go the natural way becease I think that take too much medications is not good for our body. if we take medications every time we feel paid, our body will build the anti-medications which make the medications don't work. In addition, some medications have negative effect to our body. It may hurt our organ. so I will not take any medications except I can't stand it anymore.
