Here in Mexico we use lemons for many things.
We use it to clean hair, that is dry.
We use it to clean bad marks off of wood things like coffee tables.
We even use lemons to clean sores or cuts.
Also good to use lemons to make drinks for a bad cough.

Lemons do have many uses. I know that. But when ever something happens that I am looking for something to remove a stain, I always forget about lemons. They do have products with lemon in them. And it is also a natural cleaner.

Here in the USA we have lemon scented / infused cleaners but only the really frugal seem to use just plain lemons. I like to use vinegar and water to clean and shine some things, it's great for stains, and it gets rid of the ants because they lose the scent of their trail.

I've used it diluted with water to clean garments when the washer wasn't available or when I needed to "pre-treat" it. It's good for stains in carpets and if you have a cat who likes to climb the Christmas tree you can spray some around the tree and they should be deterred.

In Chile we use lemons for many things too. WE use lemon to take the tar off kettles. You boil half a lemon, wash it and boil it agin with clear water. WE also use them to take away the smell of garlic from hands when we mince garlic at the kitchen. There are several other uses.

It seems to me that it is used as a stain remover in many ways, specially by older people and in the country. I remember that my granma used it after taking the fava beans out of their pods. Later on, she told me that if was wonderful for the skin so she always rubbed lemon in her hands.

I will have to try it on wood. Are you talking about water rings and cleaning them off? We use lemons a lot in the US, but many people just grab for a chemical cleaner. I used lemon juice to lighten and streak my hair in the summer. I can see where the vitamin C would kill infection and help a sore heal. Natural things like lemons can be very useful

I have a lemon tree in my backyard, so am happy to see other uses for lemons. Right now, I'm using lemon in my drinking water, which encourages me to drink more water now. I did make some lemon cookies last week that really made the house smell great.

I am not aware that lemon can be useful for cleaning. Though vinegar is widely used here for cleaning lemons are mostly used on foods. Our fame raw fish dish uses a lot of lemon juice as one of the ingredient. Lemons are important in our foods as most of our local dishes are sourish in taste.

I'll have to try some of those uses. I have mainly used them (or just lemon juice) in cooking or as an additive to water. I stopped buying juice a while ago, and having the lemon flavor in water (sometimes with sugar for lemonade) makes me want to drink more water.
I also like to use the peels in the garbage disposal (mostly an American thing) to make it smell fresh.

I have not ever used pure lemons for cleaning. I do like to drink it for my throat though. I am like cowgirl - i use vinegar for just about everything since it has some anti-septic characteristics. I really started using it in my laundry because my son is in bed a lot and I have to wash sheets and bedding that have urine on them sometimes. Vinegar cuts the smell so his bed pads do not carry an unpleasant odor.

hello there,
here in our country, we also use lemons in so many ways. like we use and mixed it with the dishwashing liquid to wash away those greasy plates. then we also use it mixing a cola drink whenever there is an event or occasion. and i even used it when bathing, as lemon tends to whiten the skin.

I have heard about using lemon for hair and for a sore throat, in a tea. Actually, I haven't heard about using this as a furniture tidying liquid, but as I think about it, most of this stuff sold in my country has lemon juice or fake lemon juice in it, so it makes sense. I haven't tried it yet, but it is also said to be working as a hair color lightener, if you press it into your hair in the summer, and sit under the sun... it's going to damage hair a bit, but not as much as box or salon hairdye, so it's still a healthier and more natural looking option.

When I was a teenager I would use lemons to lighten my hair color. It would cause my hair to be several different colors and my parents were fine with the color, as they were opposed to hair dyes.
