Cook or go to restaurant for Thanksgiving?

This year for some reason, I'm not in the mood to work in the kitchen for Thanksgiving. I'm not in the mood for the shopping for all the food either. I'd much rather go to a buffet then go to the movies. Is it less of a Thanksgiving because I might do that? I think not.

I'm not living in a country celebrating Thanksgiving, but we do have the same kind of family get-togethers at Christmas... well, I guess, as other countries do. I personally would miss the warmth of the home, the home-made food, the cozy athmosphere, and this "usness", so I'd never go out to eat that day... so yes, I would find that less festive. You could make less food, or not really traditional or super crazy dishes... I think the true meaning is a family getting together in a home talking and munching on some goodies. I wouldn't even mind if we ate crisps on Christmas Eve, just the family being together counts a lot.

Yeah you're right. Being around family is the most important aspect of it all, not going crazy with a million dishes on Thanksgiving.

Now that my kids are grown I go to one or the others for Thanksgiving Dinner. This year will be sad for both of them because it is the one year anniversary of losing their Dad. The only saving grace is my new grandson who is 9 months old. we will celebrate for him. I've never gone to a restaurant for Thanksgiving and don't think I ever will.
