Bathroom light switch on the outside

I don't understand this one. I stay in a lot of hotels per year. I instantly roll my eyes when I see the bathroom light switch on the outside. I only fumble around in the dark in the bathroom at midnight trying to find the switch on the inside. It's enough already. Put the switch on the inside.

I can picture someone playing a prank. You are there, either on the pot, or in a bubble bath, and all of a sudden, someone outside of the room turns off the lights.

I believe it happens all the time. You don't even have to work hard to think of something good. Flick the switch, prank accomplished.

I wonder what the logic behind it is. Maybe its how the room was built and the electric wires were run a certain way.

Hi there, I just checked your profile and I discovered that you are from United States. Well, here in Malaysia, I find all the hotels I stayed would have the light switch situated just beside or near the key card insert which is normally just beside the door into the room. Thus, the light switch would always be outside of the toilet here. I have never come across a toilet light switch inside the toilet though. Perhaps in United states they would most likely place the light switch in the toilet?
