How can i speed up my laptop?

November 16, 2012 4:49pm CST
Hi I have a Toshiba Satellite pro laptop and it is running slowly when I try to load programs. I have tried the disk defragmenter and the disk clean up programs but they don't seem to speed my laptop up at all. i have also taken the laptop into a local PC Repair shop for it to be completely reset but that still hasn't worked. I am really struggling to find solutions to solve the problems that my laptop may have. Does anyone else know of any methods or programs i could use to speed up my laptop? Thank You

Hi, It depends on number of various factors. 1.Was your laptop running fast before so what programs/softwares installed recently, you can check recently installed programs in Add/Remove Progams of control panel or unisntall programs section. 2. Are any background services running? you can check using the task manager. (Ctrl + Shift + Esc) to open task manager. 3. Is any spyware present check with spyware tools 4. Add RAM if you can add.

Speed of your computer depends on several factors such as corruption of data and Operating System, low hard drive space, overheating, missing updates and outdated drivers. You can try to check the space if there is at least 200 to 500 MB space free on your hard drive. You can also empty recycle bin and delete temporary files. You can run Error Checking and Defragment on your Hard Drive. Installing an anti-virus and updating drivers can be helpful as well. If its still the same, you can perform a system restore to restore your laptop to factory settings.

When you're loading programs and it starts to run slow, memory space is getting smaller. Try adding a memory card or even better if you could maximize the allotted memory capacity it can take. If it still runs slow, reformatting would do. And if still remains the same, have it check by the manufacturer's service shop..

The question is, "Is your computer running fast before?" and if yes, "What is the last thing you do that possibly cause it to slowing down?", try system restore if that's all what has happened,, Since you mention that you have brought it to local PC Repair shop for it to be completely reset then i think the problem is your computer itself, maybe some damaged hardware or ineffective settings.
