I was browsing videos at Youtube and saw a featured video of a girl named Amanda Todd.. It was 5 weeks ago when she had herself hanged in her room, but few weeks before that incident she actually had posted a video of herself holding messages written of pieces of paper. She shared about her feelings and how she had been lonely, feeling down.. She experienced massive cyber bullying.. It started when she was 12.. She loved to chat on cam with friends and even to new people she meet. One guy had made her show her breasts on cam and a year later it spread over the internet. She had been suffering the shame and pain of humiliation for 3 yrs but was not able to hold on, she committed suicide... It was a sad story for a young girl.. She was pretty and seemed to have a good family.. May she rest in peace.. With the excessive technology boost, it's always good to keep in contact with family members..I am so happy we share a common PC at home.. It's in our living room.. So for any undesirable activities like this, whether abusive and violent sites, anyone can be properly monitored.. Some teens today just have their on computer and laptop in their OWN room, means they are not limited to things they do.. Parents should take proper action in monitoring the activities of the young.. They may or may not be serious but who knows?:S God bless the people especially the young ones.. May they find quality activities that would make them better person in the future..

Hi, meowchie! You have pointed out real well the importance of parents' role towards their children most especially with the use of the internet. True that this technology has helped millions of people in their everyday life, be it in business or personal use. But sadly, the wonderful invention of the internet has created some negative effects on the youth. They should learn to be more responsible in using the internet. I think that they should not abuse the freedom that their parent have given them in the use of the PC or laptop. There are a lot of people who take advantage of teens who are very vulnerable. It is really hard for a parent to be on their children's side most of the time, but I hope that the kids of today have learned that the impact of this technology didn't just have a positive effect on us but a negative impact as well.

I know.. what's alarming is the cellphones too! Before, children/teens hardly get phones with video/photo.. They just own the basic NON-multimedia phones.. But now, young ones even own wifi-able phones than can access restricted sites for kids.. And tendency, when they are with their friends, they show off..Thought it's ok for first time doing it.. But first, without control would cause to repetitions.. And repetitions of this is dangerous to the kid... :/

Exactly! There is really always a disadvantage along with an advantage on everything. I just wish the youth could be more responsible enough and be sensitive towards the feeling of others. They seem to be having fun with bullying others, but they should also realize how it could greatly affect the individual most especially those people who could be so sensitive that they could not handle such issues in their lives.

I'm sorry for the girl. She was a victim. One must be carefull in surfing internet. It can really do harm to people if one does not use it properly.

Yes she was a victim.. Some was even attacking her "more" when she posted the video.. Saying she deserved it bcoz she flaunted it..instead of lifting her up, they've stoop down on her harder.. She's done a mistake, but she found no one to tell her start anew.. She thought is was the end for her.. :( If she have only found MyLot first than Youtube.. :S
