Well, there are some simple steps you can do. Try to eat foods that contain iron, These foods include eg oysters, shrimp, beef liver, beef, green peas, spinach, plums, raisins, or cereals fortified with iron. Then, to maximize iron absorption, the body also needs vitamin C. Therefore, eating foods containing vitamin C, such as oranges, tomatoes, mangoes along with foods containing iron is the right combination. Furthermore, there are other effective ways you can do, is to supplement-based approach. Choose an iron supplement that comes with vitamin C.

Hi, welcome to mylot. We can get iron from green leafy vegetables, fruits like apples. But if your mother's iron level is very low then you should consult your family physician and have some iron tonic so that she can recover fast and then try to maintain the iron level by natural ways.

The food richest in iron are red meats, liver, green leafy vegetables and eggs.Your mother can also take supplements like Ferrous Sulphate and Ferrous Fumarate tablets. However, it is best to know the cause of her low hemoglobin levels. She may have some bleeding disorders that needs to be treated.

A healthy diet is the most important. There are foods that contain iron that are easily consumed by the human body, other foods contain iron but it is not easily consumed by the body. Obviously one should try to eat the first category of foods. Mainly consisting of fish, and meat like liver. Many people though, like me, cannot absorb a lot of iron, so their iron level remains low no matter what they eat.
