I live on a small income from social security and get paid once a month so have to be very careful with my money. I just did some figuring my bank account and decided I can afford to spend about $50 without being broke until the 3rd of next month. I'm giving 2 of my grandkids $20 and buying some clothes for my new grandson so I went to my usual shopping site where I earn points for shopping and spent almost $50 at Carters buying some pants and tops for him. I already picked up a cute truck for him that he liked when we were out shopping last week. I'm not really into Christmas this year but I had to get it done before it's too late. Have you started Christmas shopping yet? Are you doing it online or going to deal with lines in the stores? I hate long lines!

Fortunately for me I don't have to deal with all the craziness of the holiday. It's not a Bible based holiday but instead it is one that was created by man along w/ all it's many traditions which are in fact based on many of the very same traditions that were practiced by the Romans who worshiped their pagan gods which included the Sun god just to name one. The bright side of this for me is that my family, friends & I exchange gifts throughout the year for no other reason then to show that we love & appreciate them. To me that has more meaning then all this holiday rush & greed that seems to always come along w/ this holiday.

There is always a day for celebrations, even if it's our tradition, one day is always set aside for people to appreciate such day in our lives. Be it religious or by reasons of virtue, traditions are always passed down from generation to generation. So for this reason, it doesn't matter who starts any celebration or holiday, as long as it is for a good cause and involves me in one way or the other, then am celebrating too.
Christmas all the way.

I do not have a lot of Christmas shopping to do so it is still rather early for me to consider starting.
The bulk of my Christmas shopping will consist of stocking up on food. I do tend to go overboard because I like to have a very good choice available and despite the fact that the shops are open most of the festive season I prefer not to have to go out if I do not want to. The main overstocking is usually frozen or tinned foods, so there is no problem if the majority of it is still remaining after the holidays because it will last for quite a long time.

It's still too early for christmas shopping in Greece. On tuesday we are expecting to have 21 celcius degrees again, so the christmas spirit hasn't come here yet. Even though I love christmas, I am used to get into the spirit and the shopping after december comes. Even though money is a little tight this year, I'm sure we'll still make some purchases in about 2 weeks time.

i generally start right after Christmas for next year's Christmas. i find in January, that is when you get all the best deals. i also buy all through the year for my kids, hubby and my mom (this also saves money) and this year, because we are like you and and live pretty much on a fixed income, i am planning to make some gifts this year. i got a book on popcorn out of the library and will get some tins from the thrift store and make some flavoured popcorn for friends and co-workers which shouldn't cost much. i am also having a craft sale at the end of the month so i hope that i make a bit there.
i also used some of mylot money to buy Christmas presents on Ebay.

Wow...good for you that you are planning to start your Christmas shopping already...well, I am actually planning to have it also by the 15th of December after I received my payout for the month...In this way, I can plan and start to do it whenever I have time...

I will be starting mine on December 1st. I have been setting up a budget. I am making a few homemade gifts and hope to get started on making them tomorrow. I know the economy has hit a lot of people and have to spend a lot less money. I am trying to make some crafts so I can sell them online and make a little extra money. I am into Christmas, but it has been hard to not spend so much money.

No, I have not done a single shopping for Christmas. Our country is so full celebrations and feasts that we have still to recover from the school feast in which we had to spend for costumes, props, tickets, etc. Christmas is still out there.

No, I haven't started my Christmas shopping yet. I'd do it on the first week of December, just in time for my siblings' Christmas party as well. I need to see the clothes and shoes firsthand to make sure that it would fit, so I'll be doing the shopping myself in the mall.
