24 Hours to Go, I Want to be Sedated.

That is the title of a song I heard a long time ago on a television show. That line is the only one I remember. Anyway, I haven't been to sleep tonight. I'm in too much pain, and can't really sit still either. I'm so glad I have insomnia infrequently these days. Years ago I would go days without it. When is the last time you went without sleeping for a whole 24 hours? How long is the longest you've gone without sleep. Mine was four days. It was awful. By the fourth day I was jittery and on edge.

I am sorry you were in pain and weren't able to sleep. I know the feeling when I have bad cramps that cause me not to be able to sleep, or a bad toothache. It's been awhile since I've not slept for 24 hours, so I can't remember rightly when it was. However, I think the line is "50 50 50 50 hours to go.. i want to be sedated." By The Ramones.

I first heard it WAYYY back on My So Called Life. It may very well be 50 hours to go, I wouldn't be surprised. But when they sang it on My So Called Life they changed it to 24 hours to go. I can't believe I remember that show.

well, Friday night, i didn't fall asleep until 4 in the morning but ended having a nap in the afternoon. when i first got my CPAP, i went for 4 days with only being able to fall asleep at 3 am. that was a rough stretch. (and having to get up at 7 and go to work) it is tough when you don't sleep but are expected to perform normally.

My dad thought he'd never get used to his CPAP machine, but now he can't sleep without it.

I went about 36 hours once. I was with my ex-boyfriend. We spent the first part of the night fighting, then the rest of the night talking and making up. Then the sun rose and I had to go to work. I was a zombie at work all day. I was working through a temp agency at the time, we were hired to remodel a department store, and I worked in the crystal section.. like the expensive stuff, Waterford crystal and the like. Thousands of dollars worth of merchandise passed through my hands that day moving it from one area to another. I don't know how I survived the day without breaking anything. I think I ended up falling asleep around 6pm that night.. so that would be about a day and a half of no sleep. This past Saturday some friends invited me out.. they work the night shift so they are night owls, and one of them was my ride. We were out until about 5am. Then I woke up at 9am on Sunday after 4 hours of sleep.. took the kids to the zoo, went to the mall, hubby and I went to see a movie, and I got some school work done! Though I had a heck of a time trying to wake up this morning.

Oh gosh...when I was younger I could go with little or no sleep within a 24 hour period of time, but nowhere near 4 days. If I tried the 24 hour thing now..I wouldn't be worth a dime. I am very methodical when it comes to sleep. I hate that you have been in so much pain..that makes it even worse. Pain has a way of wearing you down all its own.

Hi Ambie, I accidentally took too much medicine the last time I had a cold. The medicine gave me insomnia. I was up for 24 hours straight. It was just awful. I am sorry you are in so much pain. Have you tried acupuncture? It really helps me.

I thought about it, but cannot afford it. Thankfully, there is a woman in my church who does medical massages. And she gives me one for free a couple times a month. She is always telling me I have more knots than anyone else she sees.

I was working as an OJT at the National Economic Development Authority when that kind of an experience happened. I worked for of 36 hours and went home only to take a bath. Though it was too much for a worker, I did enjoy the whole experience.

Wow.. that's terrible, hope you never have to experience it again.. I use over the counter aids. I have for years. Thirty years ago I started taking one quarter of a benadryl (generic brand, dosage instructs, two pills) which is the same ingredient, I found that is in tylenol pm without the acetaminophen, which can cause liver trouble I guess, under certain circumstances or over time. These days my favorite to keep on hand is a chewable sleep aid (unisom) which I like because if I cannot fall back to sleep it's easy to take one.. No pill to swallow and wait for it to digest. Of course if you are already on meds, I suppose these may not help..? I even smoked catnip once, but yes, it made me very tired just like it does my cat, though she's never picked up the smoking trick! - I suppose you already do some sort of winding down and relaxation in the evening..? Some folks advise some sort of jasmine incense..? Aromatherapy (couldn't think of the word.)

I have gone at least 24 hours with no sleep a lot in the last year. Since I stopped working my last job I have been getting a lot more sleep, but still on that night schedule. So I have been fighting sleeping all day and staying up all night. The last time I stayed up for 24 hours was Friday night though.

I hate to think of you in pain. I am so sorry that you have been so ill. I cannot imagine going four days without sleeping as I would have been climbing a wall. I just cannot cope without sleep. I do experience sleeples nights sometimes - especially when I am stressed but still sleep on and off and probably did, in total, get at least four hours sleep. I wil pray that you feel better soon
