I opened yahoo and saw the devastating news of children caught in crossfires in Gaza and civilians getting killed. I do not know much of the background or the whole point of the war in Gaza..but as far as i know the Israeli's were fighting the Hamas. But can anyone shed light on this? i am just curious as to why this is happening and reading about it makes me really pray, praying it will stop as the death toll is rising too.

I was watching Troy (the older version) a few days back. Though it was about war, what I felt was - wars those days were much better. At least they (fighters) had some rules and respect. Unfortunately today, we have grown to nuclear and missiles and chemical weapons which do not discriminate between the women, aged, ailing and even the children.
Wars of today are NOT fought for anything else but political gains and supremacy - whatever be the agenda. and unfortunately we will never grow out of this. We will keep fighting and warring with other brothers and sisters.
Anyways, I join you in your prayers for the children and the people who are suffering because of these wars.

i have to agree with you on this one, i also have seen scenes of war in the past where they even had the "rest" day, where they stop and set time again for war to resume..it was funny if you think of it but then it was a lot more humane and respectable in a sense... unlike today where people kill for the sake of killing and making their point. I was following the news again this afternoon and it is really breaking my heart with so many children killed too and everyone putting the blame on each side.. and heck i do not know when this will stop too

@ifa, yes even before our time they have been fighting and the root of it goes way back in time.

Ever since I am old enough to understand that war is a very bad thing, the Israelites and Palestinians have always been in strife against each other. I have met a few people from those countries while I was working in Dubai and they practically uprooted their families from there to transfer and work and even hopefully make their residence in Dubai just to escape the trouble there. The innocent OFWs who are there only to earn a living and provide for their families here in the Philippines who got caught in the middle of the crossfire really move me. I know that if only they have a better choice they wouldn't leave their families in the first place. But now, I can only imagine what's going to happen to those whose kids are still too young.
Indeed, let's just hope and pray that this discord be resolved soon. World peace doesn't seem to be a boring wish nowadays.

Yes our own OFWs risking their lives so to have higher pay.. it is sad that our country cannot provide that kind of pay here. it is hard but that is reality.

I have been watching this since it happened early this year.
You can check the gruesome killing from the net- it's all documented.
Some videos from youtube and facebook are already blocked and removed due to it's disturbing images.

If only there wasn't much religious fundamentalist and extremist in the middle it could have been a far better place than Europe. well, prayers will always be there but of course, it should be center at the leaders of these nations who never stop fighting because of their respected beliefs.

I don't think the war is about religion at all. Otherwise, for one thing, why would Israel allow total freedom of religion in Israel? They have always lived peacefully with the Muslims in their borders. For this very reason, being bombed with rockets from Gaza everyday, they did not want to give back the Gaza strip, but they did and left homes and businesses intact, but it became a wasteland of rocket launching. The Gaza Strip was won from Egypt in the 6 days war in 1967, when 5 nations around Israel were preparing to attack and were talking back and forth about how happy they were going to be to annihilate Israel. And Israel won the West Bank from Jordan, a handy place from which to bomb Israel also. (Jordan is the nation 'Palestine" was given by the U.N. at the same time Israel was returned a small part of historic Israel in 1918.) Israel absorbed many thousands of Jewish folk expelled from the large Arab nations at the time. But the remnant of Arabs, now called Palestine, were refused entry into any of the Arab states, certainly, in order to have unrest with Israel. When we think of these acts of the radicals, like they did to Daniel Pearl, which takes about three or four minutes to carry out, what can we think about a human who can do this? And would we like them living next door to us, and we be painted as the oppressor, and human rights violator? This world does not like Jehovah (translation from the hebrew, YHWH) so it does not like Israel, nor christians.

Kids and civilians shouldn't get involved in their nonsense. These shootings should definitely end or there will be more innocent blood on the ground. This only goes to show that they don't care if they kill someone who's not involved. They only care about whatever it is that caused all the shooting. Their ignorance is way off the boundaries here.

Saw several news like this before and it really never ends. They all come with different reasons, but the outcome is still the same -- more blood, more lives. Kinda f***ed up if you ask me. What website did you read this from?

Okay, like you I also don't know the real story but I found this thing it happens in the past- the air strike in Gaza? Is that a war between Israel and Egypt? Has it something to do with wars or signs of time, end times?

I hope not the end times avery, there is still so much beauty in this world. Then again we never know right?
I guess it is a war between the Israel and the Hamas - more like rebels of Egypt right?
