You might not believe if I will tell you that I had my lunch today for 10 pesos ($.25). Yes guys, that is true. My friend asked me if I have a packed lunch for today, I told her none so she asked me that we will just dine on the mini restaurant across the building. So we went to the place and I ordered my food. I am preventing myself from eating meat nowadays so I just ordered veggies and rice. After we ate, I asked the owner of the store how much do I have to pay for my food. She answered ten pesos. What? Are you serious? She said that veggies are really cheaper than any other kind of foo in her store. So I thanked her and I decided that will eat on that place from now on. I discovered that I could save some amount if I have to eat veggies for lunch, he he. Have a nice day everyone!

I so can relate to this! I have been a thrifty student back then when I was still in High School and even during my pre-College years (freshmen, sophomore years). Since we have lots of projects and school requirements to fill up and I don’t want my Parents to be hassled because there’s another expense coming in line from my schooling, I make it a point to spend less than to spend more. And one thing that makes me save my dime is through food. Instead of eating inside the school canteen which has expensive price of foods, I eat at outside at a Carinederia (term for food stalls in the Philippines).

Aries, i will not travel there just for lunch. but philipines is part of my future travel plan. thus, when i visit that area, i want to make it a point to visit there to taste such food which are cheap yet delicious rather than get cosy with hotel foods. that is why i asked you for the name of the restaurant or area. i wish i could take a jet for lunch but im yet to own a jet :) not even a toy jet.

Aries, indeed it is a big surprised to discovered that you can have lunch with just a few cents. As in my area here, the cheapest i ever discovered is around $2.50, veggies lunch. If added a piece of meat, then it would be around $3 or $3.50. So much difference in price, is it depending on area as well? As for my here, it is depending on area as well. How i wish i will come around a very cheap place for lunch as well. Have a nice weekend...

Well, having meal at your area still seems cheaper. Indeed, food in remote area would cost much cheaper than city area. In my village area, i can have lunch for only $1.50 include a piece of fish.

Hi myfb! Yes it depends on the place because you know that the place I where I work at present is somewhat remote. But in the city, I can have a meal for $1.50 to $2.00. Well that was just a rare instance but most often, I would pay $1.25 for a meal. Still cheaper as compared to the one in the city. Thank you for sharing!

I believe you friend, yes vegetables are really cheap in our country and you can make it taste like meat , tried frying cauliflower, kangkong ( water spinach) or spinach in a batter of egg and flour? It tastes like the expensive Japanese shrimp tempura, I can survive for days eating only sweet potato tops or what we call " talbos" that has been blanched in boiling water or "malunggay" (moringga) omelet that we have plenty or you can just ask from a friend who has plants, I find them very delicious, sometimes better than meat

Hi louie! Yes, eating veggies are oftentimes better than meat and in our place you could really have it for free by asking the neighbor who is growing some. Some also use the malunggay (moringga) as fence so you can have as much as you want just don't pull out the tree from the soil. Thank you for sharing!

That's really cheap. You're right, though, veggies are cheap compared to the usual dishes. Plus, think of all the health benefits you'll get from eating vegetables regularly. It's not recommended, though, that you eat *only vegetables* since you also need other nutrients.

It's a busy world, indeed. You have to bring a lot of things for you to get by. Saving up is really essential if you're not really earning that much. Especially now that Christmas is on its way, we have to have funds to give the kids their gifts. I admire your resourcefulness.

Yeah, that's right. At home, we have to cook several dishes and from time to time, I would bring a packed lunch with me at the office. But there are times that I can't bring food because I have a lot of other things to carry while I am travelling to my work, my laptop, my bag and several documents. It's not bed to be able to save sometimes, he he. Thank you for sharing!

That's the cheapest and the healthiest I am sure that rice only costs Php 5.00 in that store and veggies is also Php 5.00. The poor Pinoy will survive if we have more of these restos. But how is the sanitation of the place?

Hi Cutie! Well, actually in the provinces/rural area where the people can grow vegetables and other foods in their backyard, food is not really a problem. I only heard of this kind of problem with food in the capital city because the people would usually go there without assurance of getting a job and therefore they would complain of not having enough food to eat. Thank you for sharing!

Wow! That's so thrift. Here in our place the cheapest price for vegetable cost 15pesos. The cost of rice per cup is 8pesos. If we don't want to spend much money and to save money, just bring a food in our work. We satisfied ourselves for that food and we surely knew that the food we eat is safe.

That is very surprising considering the amount of food nowadays. But you should not only rely on vegetable alone coz it doesn't give much energy that you need. It might weaken you just an hour after. You just always include protein during meals. Adequate amounts of both complete and incomplete proteins are needed to support many bodily functions and maintain good health. http://www.ehow.com/about_5268410_importance-protein-diet.html

there are many ways on how to save money. food expenses are an everyday thing. we eat three times a day or more. we can save money by selecting our food and places to eat where there is cheap cost of food without compromising the calories we need to survive and perform well. the food stall you chose seems to be very cheap, but i hope it does not do away with the nutrition that you need.

Yes of course. I am trying everything to save money. Considering the amount I have to spend for my fare everyday which take most part of my salary. I can't find a place to live within the place because I already look and found out that rooms here are expensive. So without much difference, I'd rather go home and I can still take care of my family. Thank you for sharing!

I know that small eateries who make home cooked meals come in cheap, but not that cheap! There's this eatery near my previous workplace that sells rice at 10 pesos per order! Wow, that's so cool. Do I need to ask if you were able to get full for 10 pesos? I hope we have something like that near our place.
