You cannot use HTML codes in the Discussion area. MyLot posts are plain text and only a limited character set is supported. You can format your post using Bold, Italic and Underline (or any combination) from the 'myLot code' menu on the left. As you will see if you try it, it uses a small set of BB markup codes. The engine used to check posts is complex and sophisticated (and has it's own quirks). Besides not allowing any HTML codes such as (without spaces), there are certain words which it will not allow and others which will automatically tag the discussion as 'mature content'. You can post URLs - e.g.: http://www.mylot.com/o/guidelines.aspx - and it will convert them into hyperlinks (except 'https' links) but you must remember to leave a space before and after them, otherwise it will include unwanted text in the hyperlink and it won't work! Using the formatting codes to format a hyperlink as bold will also cause problems: http://mylot.com

There are a number of ways in which one might demonstrate or show HTML code as an example. Unfortunately, none of them are particularly convenient and some might be seen as breaking the Guidelines (by posting a link to one's own site or blog). You can certainly discuss HTML but you will find it difficult or impossible to post examples in HTML format and you certainly can't use any HTML code - tags, entities or anything else - anywhere except (to a somewhat limited extent) in an HTML sortie in your profile.

Yes you can't put HTML here. Take note that you can't post your email add too. I'm a victim of that and that resulted to a discussion deletion. _
