If you want a successful career in dance, then yes, absolutely! I have been dancing professionally for 15 years, but joined the army and couldn't get a degree in dance. I still could, but I decided to do something else. I still dance professionally and competitively, but it's not the same as it was when dance was my only thing in life. Dance is my everything, and it has had to take a backseat to life. :/ Don't lose your dream if it's what you want.

Does dancing make you happy? Chances are, it will be difficult to find a stable job with a dance major, though they do exist. You can certainly better your chances for getting good jobs out of college by making the most of every opportunity you're given and working hard to build your portfolio when you're in school.
It's not guaranteed to take you anywhere, but I don't think anything really is. And which would you prefer, having to hunt down job gigs all the time when you're doing something you love, or having a stable job that you abhor? Up to you.

Dance major may not help land you a stable or top-notch job. You should ponder this. But at the same time, don't choose something you don't feel comfortable studying or hate studying, that's a lot worse, to be forced to learn something that you don't understand or that bores you.
