I hope that you and your fiancee have a lovely time in the Thailand and the Philippines. I also worry that peak season airfares are way too pricey. Flights from my home country have very large amounts of airport tax on them. The further away the country the more expensive the airport tax seems to be. The following times are pricey to fly somewhere: mid December to early January for the Christmas time, mid July to the beginning of September for the summer and to a lesser degree Easter time which falls in March and or April. I managed to book a flight to Argentina leaving from England and going via Spain. I did it for two weeks of term time and two weeks of the school holidays for Easter time. I took my five year old disabled son and my three years old daughter with me. We visited Argentina, Chile, Brazil and Uruguay. We had Easter weekend in Rio, Brazil. It was super expensive there at that time. It was crowded on Easter Sunday going up to see a statue of Christ on a mountain by cog railway. The airline ticket cost around 1800 pounds I think it was.

A month vacation? How on earth are you able to go away for so long? That is a bit to pay for tickets but if you are going to have a fun time it is well worth it so consider this an investment into a great memory. They charge so much cause they know you are going to pay those prices and be forced to travel then.

Travel during peak season and holiday season are always more expensive. There is always the surcharge for hotels, theme park entrance tickets, airfare etc. That is why many frequent travelers planned one year ahead to take advantage of the cheaper fares. As long as both of you are happy together, everything is worth it. Happy holiday!

First of all I hope you have a very nice time. And I am sure you will because thailand and philippines are both beautiful countries. I believe the prices go up, because the flight companies know that people need to travel anyway, so they get advantage of it. For example on christmas everyone flies back to his family and on summer everyone wants to go on a vacation to a country by the beach.
