Hi everyone, I like sewing very much, It is one of my most fruitful hobbies, being able to make a dress or clothes in any fashions brings great satisfaction to me. Recently a friend of mine asked me to sew new curtains for her windows and some traditional costumes. Actually I am not prepared to turn this skill into a business-making yet since I don't enjoy sewing with datelines...but somehow, I accepted this friend's request... So, I had been doing online work plus this sewing project the past two weeks and it was a struggle to finish the sewing project on time. I enjoy sewing but it is hard work and less enjoyable when it's not just a hobby anymore. Phewwww...I didn't even get to sleep properly. But now, it is almost done and I so happy. I am not a pro tailor, but hopefully I can get there...except I do it more as a hobby, a fruitful hobby indeed!

I used to sew many years ago when I was younger and my eye site was better. Now I'm trying to crochet an afghan for my grandson and it's taking me forever because it's hard for me to see the tiny stitches.

Yes, I understand what you mean ctrynny, good and sharp eye sights are indeed very important to do these type of works...sewing, crocheting, cross-stitching, painting, it is difficult indeed to complete these works with bad eyesights. Anywhere, just do a little at a time and don't force your eyes to look at it for too long...hmmm I think it is time for me to buy the bilberry, a supplement for eyes...

I also have no talent in sewing but like the saying "curiosity kills the cat"...so it is the same with me, I am passionate to learn and keep learning and so I manage somehow to create something...it is learnable and doable actually, just do it (oops I learn that from Nike).

wow that's so nice, i even saw some of my friends stitching some new curtains and adding some new things to their tops. But i am never interested from my childhood in this i 'know why. I used to hate to do or learn any girly things. I always used to play in the hot sun with boys.hehe. Now also i feel good to watch all those but don't get any interest to learn .But its a good hobby i should agree.

Yes prashu, sewing is not for everyone. I had been to several tailors in the past and out of these, only one tailor is good in cutting of garments, meaning she is the best when it comes to pattern drawing. There is a lot of demand for this skill but it is not easy to fulfill so many orders, that's why a tailor can only accept a number of order at one time and finish these orders first before she can continue accepting new orders. It is hard work...that's why I prefer to just make it a hobby at the moment...one or two orders may be fine...it is definitely a very rewarding hobby.

You know what, it is one my frustrations in life, to sew in a sewing machine. Even in hand sewing I am not that good. I remember one time, I cried hard when I was not been able to produce an apron as our project because I really do not know how to use even the sewing machine. I envied my classmates because they can be able to produce their hand made apron. So weird until now I still can not sew.

That's so cool. I want to learn how to use a sewing machine myself. I really wanted to and actually thinking of buying a sewing machine (just the basic one). My boyfriend though I am not serious about this, but I believe I really want to do this. I wanted to learn how to make a jersey jacket so that we no longer need to ask a professional tailor to do this. They actually give the jacket to us for a low price but they're having hard time following the design that I wanted.
