PayPal is primarily a 'payment provider'. That means that it is meant to be solely a convenient and safe way to make and receive payments from/to your bank account or credit card without giving out the numbers to all and sundry. It is NOT a bank and you are not supposed to use it as a place to 'store money' or keep a balance. They WILL limit your account if they perceive that you may be using it improperly and have not verified it by linking it to a bank account or credit card. Depending on your country, you are allowed to have an unverified account for a certain time but it is always expected that you will verify it sooner rather than later by giving them your payment details.

You and I come from the same country, I verified my paypal account without credit card. You can add your bank accounts to your paypal (well I see you posted another discussion about debit card but I'll include the answer here), paypal accepts many Indonesian banks example BNI, Mandiri, BRI, BCA, and even accept the local bank (my bank is local bank which is BPD - Bank Pembangunan Daerah). If you are using debit card you cannot verify your paypal account instantly like credit card but you need to write to paypal customer service then explain them you don't have credit card to verify your account and you need their help to verify your account. You will be asked to send picture of your ID card and bank statement (first page of your Buku Tabungan which contains your account number, address, etc).

your best bet is to call them if there is a number where they can be contacted. If not email them they are usually good at getting back to you in a timely manner.

1 years ago, Paypal still accepted your bank information my friend.. but now in indonesian case, Paypal only need 1 thing, your real credit card.. so i think for this case, in the current time, you only have 1 solving problem..You should have credit card..

When your wife logs into her PayPal account, there should be a message on the homepage about the limitation that has a link to information on how to get it taken off the account. You just need to follow the steps there to have it unblocked.

PayPal cannot verify with bank anymore in Indonesia, you need to input your credit card link to PayPal and all necessary documents.

Maybe you should try getting a credit card, most of the vendors give free annual fee for one year. If you don't want to use a credit card for anything else, then use it only as your way to get verified, close the card after a year. Having a verified paypal account will give such a lot of benefits, it's worth to try. Good luck .
