It is my first time to take care of my own pet, Shih Tzu. She's only two months old and I am not really equipped with the do's and dont's of taking care of my little dog. What can you suggest? :-)

Hello Begladtobeme and welcome to myLot!
There are so much to say about raising a puppy, I can't think what to say first.
Try to find some reliable sources of information on the Internet (some were given to you in a post above).
As you have a long haired breed of dog, I'll give an advice you and your dog's groomer will thank me for: get your puppy used to the brush, comb and hairdryer. Many small dogs' owners don't give importance to grooming their puppies, and they become adults that's very difficult to be groomed. So, give a few minutes every day to get her used to be groomed.

I think you must be very excited about your new puppy.
A suggestion from me: don't let him rule over you. Even if she is small and delicate, don't let her do things you wouldn't like to come from an adult dog.
For instance, if you don't want her as an adult to sleep in your bed, don't let her do this now, because you won't make her change her habit.
Or, if you want her to eat only dry food for dogs, don't spoil her with foods from your table. She will become a picky eater and you'll have problems with her.
Try to teach her a few things, like coming when you call her. She isn't too small for this. Take a few goodies in your hand and call her name. When she comes, reward her with some of the goodies.

Thanks a ton for sharing this discussion. Well glad to hear that u are going to take care of your pet and that is a great thing u are doing. Before doing that u have to know about each and every details of taking care of your pet so that u wont face any ambiguities in the future. U should give her a bath twice or thrice in a week. Take her for a walk every day that will be of great help to u and your pet. Feed her on time every day and look at it that she is always fit.
What say?
