Waking up with a Feeling of Gratitude... I am feeling So Happy and Light :)

hi friends and community
I woke up today with some good feeling about my life. And I felt like saying thank you to Everyone and Everything.
Many in the community know that I have been ill since past 12 years now and confined to home since 2008, but still, despite the bad days and times that I have, I still am feeling so very light today after waking up and saying Thanks. It has been a while I really felt so relaxed and lightweight (oh, I am still 48 kilos, if that makes me any lighter)
So I would love to say thanks (in continuation of my feelings with which I woke up) to everyone here at MyLot for blessing me with your friendship, your love, caring and sharing views, opinions and knowledge with me.
Have you woke up with any similar feeling anytime and felt lighter?
Cheers,
Happy Thanksgiving.
theSids.

I am ill already for years (way longer as you), there are hard times and even harder. Still I focus on what I can do and not what I am not able to do anymore and everyday I make the best out of it. I know I still do way more as I should and this is bad for my health as well, but fact is with children there are way more responsibilities as when you are alone. There are plenty of moments I do feel great too (which has nothing to do with how I actually feel), I do recognize your way of waking up. Enjoy the feeling!

hi wakeupkitty
how much I wish I could be like a mom - their hearts and will power are so strong.
my late grandmother suffered from severe piles for at least 10 last years of hers, from white I remember she turned pale but still she did carry on and we in the family never felt anywhere that she was ill. It was her love that kept her going. My Mom too has some major issues - a clot in brain, hernia - and she has been ill for more than 15 years now, but still she is so very active - love for family again.
So I can very well understand what you go through dear.
I wish you a better health dear.

HI SIDS…
It’s nice to hear you saying those words.
As for me, I never woke up and felt lighter because I am overweight.
…and I think until I am not satisfied with my job, I will never feel any lighter.
But there’s always this someone that makes me feel that way – it’s having someone you love who’s beside you every morning that you wake up.
And within the day, when I log in here, I feel lighter for having conversations with my friends. Especially during those times that I needed some hugs and chocos.

hi adnileb
sometimes i too think I am overweight when the doctors tell me that my knees are unable to carry me (due to this arthritis)
i have been thinking about your job and your idea to migrate or shift to another organization... and do hope that this would happen sooner.
Now do you need more chocos and hugs when you are here on Mylot? Okay, I think I can share some with you more often now and do hope that others will not mind me sharing them with you...
btw, your avatar (this current one of the school girl times) does deserve more hugs and chocos... So here is some... warm and some melted chocolate for you... you might want to cool it down if you like cold chocolate (testing your patience :lol)

Oh, arthritis.. my mom has that kind of pain on her hands. And I pity her watching her hands tremble when tired and when it’s cold. So I usually massage them and in return, she should pay me at least 1peso. That’s so cheap compared to having a massage outside which costs 250~300 pesos.
With regards to having another job, no employers called me yet. But I’m willing to wait – hope it’s not that long.
My avatar looks sad, maybe I hate to take picture that time. But yes, she needs more hugs and chocos more than I do now. But I prefer the melted one, much better for my sore throat.

Hi my NS
I have to tell you that just reading this discussion put a smile on my face and made my day feel all that much brighter. You have such a beautiful attitude and such a way with words!
Im glad to hear that you are having a good day. It must be difficult sometimes to remain so upbeat and positive with an on-going illness. I hope you are blessed with many more days like today and that they help to carry you through the rougher times. Take care,Sids. {{{HUGS}}}

You have an amazing attitude which I'm sure also helps you get through the bad days. Some people are unable to pull themselves up and find good in their world when times are hard. I'm not sure why but some of us seem more blessed in the ability to find ways to keep our chins up and keep going. I can see how Mylot can be therapeutic either to vent or even to momentarily forget our own problems. It helps me for sure. The other day when I was so worried about losing my apartment and all, well, it really helped to just get on here and talk about it. I'd been feeling just sick about it and suddenly I knew that regardless of the outcome, I'd be ok.
Have a great day, my friend!{{{{HUGS}}}}

Hi my dear namesake
The mention of this discussion putting a smile on you face - made my day and this post successful for sure. You might have read on my my discussions that this is one of my two goals for me - bringing smiles to a face a day.
Yes dear, there are days and times when I do feel quite low and depressed but then, I have found out some great and effective ways which work good for me - like one - being here at MyLot and sharing the experiences and happenings in the lives of my so many dear friends.
And some times when my friends post heart touching discussions, and I am feeling depressed that day, I do try to feel their pain and that really helps me forget mine for sometime at least and I get time to e-construct myself

I watched this in a movie - the Beach - decaprio said - I will not die today. And that make me think and today I keep believing in that. Everytime I am low and depressed, I say this to myself and think if I am not going to die today, i am living and if I am living, I should be Alive rather than merely living.
yes, there are many who do carried away when in pain, even I too was that way until 2008 when I tried to kill myself as I couldnt stand the physical pain and also the pain my wife had to undergo during my illness and bed confinement... but when I lived beyond that moment, I realized how important it is for me to live - live for my wife who means the world to me.
And yes dear, mylot is a wonderful thing to have happened to me. just like you and many others, it works as a shock absorber. Hope your apartment issue is now resolved

Hi Sid
Since you feel light and happy, let's have some chocos and hot coffee... hey is this because of Cranberry juice????
I am happy too see you with all positivity and wish you keep going and no more looking back at the harder times dear as we all do face something or the other thing every now and then. Though i can understand the illness and the problems of staying alone for sometimes but i am really happy that the whole website (mylot) & its users are seeing you as their beloved bhai/ brother and close friend/friend/mamu.... I wish i could keep you motivated with my fwd mails or silly PMs from time to time.
Yes, there are days when i feel happy and light (i'm always light in weight) but not today as i developed severe throat pain, but no, i don't want to fall sick now.
Happy thanksgiving and also happy lotting!

The community and my friends here have really been so very special since I have joined here. They have been more close to me for sure than many others in the real world today. i have shared many of my ups and downs with them and maybe this is just because I have always felt MyLot to be my extended family

Hi godson
It's so nice reading another positive discussion... I'm actually filling up my brain with a lot of positivity as I don't wanna dwell anymore with the sadness that life sometimes brings us though it often comes to us.
That grateful feeling coming from someone who have been ill for a long time is a motivation to us that we must also be very thankful in life. Small problems we encounter cannot be compared to what you have been through and still going through.
Let us always put a smile on our beautiful faces

hi godmom
It is always been a great feeling to read a positive response which kind of peps me. We all have problems in our lives and when we start taking these problems as major issues, we miss out on enjoying life which does keep bringing happiness in smaller packs and parcels. And I feel, our ignoring them, makes us more sad and depressed.
And yes, dear godmom, I do believe that when we are amidst in a problem of any kind, it seems to be the biggest problem on the planet. I look out on others and try to feel their pain which makes me realize that mine is just a smaller problem But, yes, many times, I still falter on this But I will keep trying to master this art.

We are just human, we're sensitive and weak at times. So it's normal that we falter many times. What matters is that we keep reminding ourselves to always be strong and try as hard as possible to face any challenges and obstacles bravely.

How great of you! My husband is having cold right now but I'm sure it's nothing
compared with what you have for 12 years, still I'm worried because he goes to
work ealry in the morning and it's very cold and it's making him worse. But he
keeps on saying that it's nothing , he was never complaining about how tired
his body is. He keeps on thanking me because I'm taking care of him even with
unnecessary things. I hope your love ones are taking care you too and making you
feel happy even more. Have a great day!

hi vernaC
I always believe that anyone who is suffering feels pain and also that there is no bigger ailment for him/her than what s/he is suffering from right now. Your hubby might have a simple common-cold, but it is really wonderful for him to have you as his wife - who is so very caring
My wife and I have to stay away as she has got posted into a city where I cannot stay for long due to my health issues. She is at a port town since Jan 12 but the distance between us is just physical and never felt as we always chat and talk over phone. And whenever she is around, we do feel really good being together.

you said it right dear - Simple happiness is what we need in this life - and unfortunately today's busy lifestyle doesnt leave us with much of spare time to find these simple happiness moments....
I recall a line from poem - getting and spending we lay waste our powers - from William Wordworth. he could write it those days and had a great vision about the days to come

Hi jpso
Thanks for your wishes dear. But unfortunately there is no cure to my Ulcerative Colitis and Rheumatoid Arthritis. But that doesnt matter to me. I have believed in - I will not die today (from the movie - The Beach) and when I am not going to die today, I have to Live. yes, there are times when the health plays on me but still I do have some good days when I do feel so positive. On this discussion I have also got a good quote on #1 above which I have put on my computer (as a sticker) and am sue when I am low, that quote will help me feel good and stay positive.

You know both of us, i and kalyani have health issues, she has high temperature, vomiting for last 2 days, but i never see her depressed; yesterday i saw her lying on bed with laptop and working in mylot; keeping oneself busy releases stress; just now i came from doctor; she was with me, many tests are to be done to know the reason
I always say, i am the happiest person on this earth; i have struggled hard to achieve what i am now

Many a times I feel pepped up and really happy by even small things happening and maybe somewhere the Lord above blessed me today that I am feeling much lighter and happy. I do try to stay positive in thoughts but then dear... there are some times when I fail. But have just got a wonderful line on #1 above which I have written down on and pinned it on my table. Hope that this daily visual and read of this line would help me stay positive for longer
happy thanksgiving.

That is what I have been thinking since a few months now and am still working to achieve that goal. yes, the pain is there but then, it has to stay behind and I have to move on... that is what I think life is all about!

Hi perfectfeeling
Of course, the pain might be electric signals or whatever but they are unhealthy for anyone. They neither allow anyone to think the right way or even live life.
Good that I have woken up with this feeling today and this again is an electric impulse to my brain.

Seeings that you have been undefeatable in the past years (12) of challenge..it is of NO surprise you have the moral fibre to look upon each day as a blessing! YOU truly are a lesson in optimism!
It is interesting that this was so prevalent on the morning of Thanksgiving Day in the U.S. And that brings up a question; is Diwali a time for "thanks" too?
I woke up with that same great feeling almost 32 years ago...the birth of my son, and just a simple reflection on him each morning, gives me that same feeling! How blessed I am! That in turn leads to ALL my other thoughts of gratitude..and puts a smile on my face, just thinking of the bouquet of wonderful friends I have here at the Lot!
I have not forgot about sending you the link to Cranberries; we are experiencing very unusual weather here, with lots of power outages, which has challenges of it's own! GREAT BIG HUGZ for another wonderful day!

You are, as always, so right...everyday should be a "gratitude" day...but I forgot to mention, that here in Canada, our "Thanksgiving Day" was recognized October 14th...a day of celebatory foods, and to give Thanks for the bountiful harvest!
The small Island that I live on, is 14 miles OFF the coast of Vancouver (where the 2010 Olympics were held.) And, if I go to the Vancouver side of the Island, I, too can enjoy the spectacular "light show" from the Diwali Festivals ..probably more beautiful from my vantage point.
My Thanksgiving was spent on one of the highest Mountain summits in British Columbia, with my son...we spent 13 days "winter camping" at over 2700 metres...NO phones, NO electricity, and NO-ONE, just us two, daily trudging the mountain terrains, in snow...and nights around a huge campfire, happily indulging in Hot Chocolate & Drambuie...with NO distractions except before nature, it was EASY to be thankful! The only deterent, sometimes MINUS 18..a very nippy temperature...made acceptable by Hot Choco and the liquer..LOL!
Thank you for sharing the significance of Diwali! Take care, dearheart!

October 14th. Yes, I should have remembered that. you mentioning it here reminds me that you did mention this somewhere... and I had forgotten about it.
but for the 18 below zero, it would have been a wonderful time - completely aloof from almost all the happenings on the planet and just you and family spending time together.

Hi Big Sis
I have missed you so much and it is really so wonderful a feeling to see you back here and today is Thanksgiving day. I couldnt have asked for anything better.
Diwali is a different kind of festival. it signifies the victory and triumph of virtues over the Bad. It also marks the return of Lord Rama back to his kingdom Ayodhya after spending 14 years in banishment and during this time, he slain many demons.
the birth of a son or daughter yes, that is something the biggest thing in a woman's life - I say this as I do know giving life and birth is one thing that these women are specially gifted with. And we men can never understand the happiness in the pains of childbirth ever... no matter what we might say.
for the link, i understand, sis. There is no rush as the stock I have should last a week or more. And what is more important is that you have some great time today and enjoy the day.

Dear Sidhu,
It is always feeling great to read your positive narration on the beginning of the day.
In my case, I am always waking up on the alarm bell from mobile then my thought is ‘Oh the night over this much quickly, oh what is the menu I planned for kids for their school and what they have at home….’ etc etc. If there is any great feeling, then it happens on Saturday and Sunday only. Again, as a mother and the home minister, my thoughts are mainly on the house hold activities. In between there must be some great feelings but no time to enjoy that.. the life moves on…..
Take care

hi didi
I can understand you dear. Being a home minister is so very difficult and tiring. But then the being happy in other's happiness is something which is really so big and great. When it is in family, moms feel more happy on so many things which otherwise would have made them jealous or even unhappy.
#viju:
thanks for your wishes.
I too have many questions any day as I am alone here and what should I be cooking is one of the biggest issue as I mostly get confused what should I have... something like choosing between chocos or hot chocolate or even hot black coffee or cold coffee....
I am lucky that I can do away with not ironed clothes as I always am seen in shorts and tees or kurtas (good that i stay at home) and even dont bother much about wearing the same dress for 2-3 days without washing them... Sundays is the washing day.

I practice Reiki and for Reiki to be effective we have to be forever in the attitude of gratitude. It is not at all difficult for me to be that way as I have trained myself to be positive and therefore I only see good things around me.
I am glad for you that you have realised that you too have reasons to be in the attitude of gratitude!

Reiki has what is known distant healing. You should be willing to have someone do that distant healing for you and it works.
It takes a while for anyone to look at the brighter side of life and when one starts looking around earmestly it miraculously presents itself. You seem to have done that!
And as for the right words - let me see - they are just the right words. Where did you get them from? Tell me please!
@thesids (22180)
• Bhubaneswar, India
23 Nov 12
About the Reiki, I had not considered them as I felt that they are doing this for money and as I had no knowledge on how reiki works that added to my confusions. Now that you mention the distant healing, can it work for people who arent related in anyway except - something like - doctor and patient and the patient is around 1800 or more kilometers away? I ask this because it might help me make a decision whether to try them or find anyone known to me and I want to get id of those stones in gall bladder without a surgery, Have been on Alopathy and Homeopathic medicines for around a month or more but it doesnt still feel comfortable.
for looking at the brighter sides, I actually had never thought of that - I was going to kill myself that day in 2008 but something happened and it changed me. And I survived. Then I felt I cannot stay sad and sulk all my life, and there started this change happening to me. Today, I am finding it much easier to live and be alive.
for the words, I tried putting my feelings into words and wasnt sure... (and they came out of my keyboard I guess... now I am wondering whom to blame... fingers that typed or the keyboard)

Hi allknowing
And your avatar with that looks so yummy (sorry I couldnt help saying this, you know I am shameless when it comes to anything Yummy!)
I have heard about reiki and I had contacted a hospital at Delhi as they say on their website that reiki can heal the Gall Bladder stones and they even did not want me to be physically present. Well, this didnt go well with me and so I changed my mind.
Anyways, I do agree with you that the attitude of gratitude is in itself a big healer. At least it does get me rid of many banes, ugly thoughts and it does give me a sense of happiness, a kind of closeness with many people (I hope I am using the right words).

you should start taking lots of jaljeer and isabghol
Okay, seriously, I am glad that you too have such days. May I ask what are the "special days"... I guess it is the excitement of travel or being with your family which makes the days special... but for me, yesterday and even today, there is nothing that special happening, but this feeling made my yesterday 9and I do hope many more days to come) really pleasant
