some people are just cowards and trouble makers. Is the cat yours? if so, why do you let it stay outside? If it isn't then, this person really should have looked into the situation first. They should have knocked and asked anyway--
Where I am, there are a lot of animal rights activists-- and I agree with them that animals deserve decent care. But before I would report anyone, I would take the time to find out the facts of the matter, and this person apparently didn't bother to do that-- which is wrong of them. With any luck, you will find out who it is and get to talk to them face to face.

well, unless you can find out who it belongs to, you might have to have it taken away. That wouldn't be a good thing, but it might be better for the cat-- if there is a shelter that doesn't kill them after a certain period of time. We have both types of shelters where I am, but I don't know if you do. The cat should have a home, though-- we have a few abandoned cats around here, and they live a hard life until someone can get them to a shelter, or takes them in. It's sad.

Maybe it is illegal in certain places I'm not sure but anywhere I've ever lived its not illegal to keep your cat outside. They encourage people not to do this because its safer for the cat but they're still allowed to. You're right your neighbor sounds like a coward....they also sound extremely pissed and would probably not know how to ask you politely.

If it is no illegal to keep your cat outside at night and you still wish to do so I wonder if you could complain to the police or something....I'd probably keep the cat inside at night though since clearly your neighbor is kinda crazy to go making threats like that. They could ask you a lot more nicely. I'd almost not want to listen to them just because of how they asked you.

Im not sure its a coward. Some people like me dont like confrontation. Maybe the person is afraid to talk to you. Face to face.

Hi there. I think it is really hard to detect who that person unless you have a cctv camera. But I think you don't have to waste your energy and time to that person who pissed you off. Just to a note to your door again saying that the cat was not your and he or she doesn't have the right to accuse you or tell you what to do. Just keep the note as an evidence if ever you already knew who that person was. Just chill.
