hello shalloo. and welcome to mylot. cooling pads are effective at sucking the heat away from your laptop. though if you look closer at it, it actually contributes in producing heat for the laptop. i have a laptop. and what i noticed is that, when you plug the cooling pad on the laptop (through usb), the laptop produces more heat. so the heat that was being sucked away is majority of it the heat that was produced by plugging it. it's as if it's just break-even. so i decided to just unplug my cooling pad. the average heat would just be the same anyway.

That's not at all the case with my laptop. I know it is getting hot when the internal fan starts running faster (and louder), so then I plug in the cooling fan and it noticeably cools down the laptop so that it runs quieter. Not to mention that I can feel it is a lot cooler!

I use a notebook cooler too! I cannot use my computer without it even in the winter season, temperature increases too much and the notebook turns off automatically. I bought a big fan to put under the notebook and I solved the problem!

i think those are a great idea. i would love to get one for my hubby and i wish they made them in tablet size because if i am on my tablet for a long period of time (ie reading) i find it gets fairly warm as well.

I bought one a couple of weeks ago when one of the children told me I should buy it. My advisors as computing goes are mainly my grandchildren. And although I cannot use it all the time because it`s too difficult when I use my laptop in bed, still I suppose it`s better than nothing.

Yes if you are a heavy notebook or laptop user. Yes, at least I have something to put my laptop on and not just on the table. Yes it is necessary because it gives the breathing space between your laptop and the table.

A cooling pad is really a great accessory to help prolong the life of your laptop especially if you put your laptop on places where there's poor air circulation when you're using it. It's also makes it more comfortable for us when we use it on your lap.

I also wanted to buy a cooling pad for my laptop when I first purchased it. But I do not use my laptop continuously for more than 6 hours. So my friend told me not to buy a cooling pad as my continuous usage time is low and so my laptop won't be affected. So I dropped the idea of buying a new cooling pad.
