When we watch cooking competetion, we saw that they need to cook everything right at the first time even if they neve cook the things. At home, it is interesting sometimes to try new things but not many will get the expected result on their first time try. For my case, I think there are many times I like cook something new and trying different recipe and experiment it. While I can said I do most it right first time, but there are a lot of time when I fail big time. I know there are a lot of us here like to try new recipe and ingredient. How do you feel when you get it right? What it the things you really like to try to cook in the future?

On cooking competition, we are talking about experienced cooks who have to make things up in their heads according to what ingredients they have in their restaurants. With us homeowners or people at home, there is a difference. We can make mistakes. There are some recipes that I can get right the first time, but it has to do with being at the cooking business for a while. Yet cannot get stews right. I can make a chill out of my head, make pancakes and waffles without a recipe, but stews. that is the problem. However, I was watching NCIS Los Angeles and one of the heroes was talking about Shrimp Curry. I used to have that when I was younger and I have some shrimp in the freezer, so maybe I should try to make it. I do have to buy the apples though and find the right curry mixture though.

I watched Masterchef the first time, but did not like the winner as she was so nasty in her attitude about her competitors. I suspected that someone like her would sabotage the other competitors and might not be that good running a restaurant. Maybe they have improved the show and talked to the competitors. So i will see . Anyway with stew it have trouble with the seasonings. I can't have much salt and yet I want it to be flavour able. Then there are the vegetables I tend to get the proportions wrong or add too many.

Which Masterchef and what season is th I know there are a lot of people very selfish and sabotaging others so that they can win the competetion. But in the kitchen, they cannot really be selfish because everybody should be accountable in every dish. A good restaurant kitchen have a good chef who can work together in order to achieve the desirable outcome. I just had no idea how to make good stew. I watch it a lot of time on TV and yet I couldn't even understand it. I think unless I try to make it, then I will understand it.

Have you watch Master Chef? It is about someone like us compete in a cooking competition and trying to give the wow factor to the judge who are professional chef. You should watch it. The show give me inspiration to become a better cook. Stew is something quite difficult to make right. we need to make the meat tender and yet it shouldn't spoil the vege we use to cook the stew.

I tried doing 'my way' like taking this or that and so many recipes went wrong that when I am doing it, even with ingredients I'm not a fan I do it the way and the weight they asked for, the exactly grams and mililiters and all cause it really goes wrong when not properly followed. And also I can't create recipes, I really tried but it's impossible, lol.

Well, I think you have to make the recipe a few times before you can start to revise it. I have done some creative different versions of Oatmeal cookies, but then again I have cooked them so long that it is easy to add this or that to the dough and have a different variation of the cookies. It depends upon what I am cooking. If I am making an easy dish, I can throw this and that together with a little creativity. I recently came up with my own version of hot dog chili. Hot dogs, pork and beans, chili powder, garlic powder, red pepper flakes, black pepper, and onions. Yummy! For me it comes down to the comfort area, the better you know the ingredients the better you can mix them up together. It is about pairing ingredients that will go together well. That plus if you are the type of cook that can taste something and decide what it needs it helps with mixing up ingredients. I kind of have learned to cook this way. In addition, I have learned how to substitute different ingredients for some when you do not have something. Then again, this is all in the comfort area of recipes that I have cooked on a regular basis. If it is a completely new recipe, I would be totally crazy to try to change it especially if I did not know how it was supposed to come out in the first place. People that do not use recipes much are those that have cooked those dishes many times. The reason they can do it is because they know what will go together well in the dish.

Having it right on the first try is quite overwhelming, but doing more and better than the first would be awesome. Variation of recipe would be a challenge, an experimental feat that one should do more often as long as the results are good for your taste buds, lol!

I never easy to do it right for the first time. But even after we do it right first time, I always beleive we can improvise and do better the next time. The beauty about cooking is we can always improve ourselves and the dishes.

Well, I'm surprised that a man take care of the dishes of food, where the task is usually given to women. I personally, belonging to the pizza, I do not have a favorite dish, and I never had an interest in cooking. Maybe giving up the interest I lose something delicious? well, I do not believe it! However, I would like you to know how you, as you come up the passion for cooking recipes. I'm not saying that I am reading a manual would not be able to prepare some good dish, but at the moment, I do not feel any interest.

You shouldn't be surpirse. There are a lot of great chef which are man. There are most of the time when the male chef is better than the female chef. I think only in amateur category where female is better than male. I never try making pizza but I like to try someday. My passion come when I saw cooking show. There are a lot of male great chef. They are better than female in my opinion. So I when I live alone away from my family, my passion for cooking getting stronger as I had to do my own cooking.

Very interesting discussion you posted here :) I like to cook cakes, and then eat them afterwards :D! But I had to stop doing this, because my weight kept going higher and higher. Now I only cook normal food for the family, but I like to experiment and try new recipes. When I have friends over I usually make something really good, and calorierich food ;) They always apprecate my cooking skills. I got a playstation 3 wich we play on while eating food.

It must be wonderful to bake a cake and eat it afterward as soon as it cooked. My wife love baking but not me. I also found it is good to experimenting a new recipe. It will give us more diversity in our cooking.

I love watch cooking program as well. It just an inspiration to me to improve my cooking skill even further. What funny is, I like to experiment in my cooking when I cook for a special occasion like people come to dine in at my home. Whenever I do that, I really hope that I make it right and it is according ton their taste. Sometimes it didn't turn out well.

I live alone so don't do much creative cooking just for me. Once in awhile I will check out new recipes online and always come up with some very tasty dishes.

My creativity in cooking come when I live alone few years back. For me it is easier to experiment on some recipe and cook something new when only myself is cooking. Once my family are with me, I found my cooking are really constraint/limited in what they also want to eat. In the end, I only cook something that I feel others will like to eat.

I have found a few recipes that I want to try out, but I am a little nervous about it. I found a recipe for the Olive Garden's Zuppa Toscan soup, which I love. The other ecipe that I would really love to try out is a recipe that I found for Tuscan potatoes. Along with I would like to try a salad recipe that I found that uses pouched eggs, but I am a tad nervous about whether or not I can pull off pouched eggs. For me, a lot the hesitancy is of how the recipe will come out. I did try a new recipe for Garlic Toast with worchester's sauce. That was a complete disaster.

yes some dishes fail when we do for the first time, but as we understand what is lagging we can correct it and make a perfect dish. Some are really lucky they gt perfect at the first step. I like simple dishes it should not take much time.

I would not say lucky if we get thing right first time. We should applause ourself and give a pat on our own back. I take good judgement and more than just a luck. Like you, I also like a simple dish but yet delicious and flavourful.

I love those cooking shows like Rachel Ray where they have a cook off and the contestants have to cook something on the spot with the ingredients they are provided. I know I wouldn't be able to cook so well while under such pressure. I like to try new dishes, but in my own kitchen and when I get it right the first time, I feel like I'm successful. I would really like to come up with another great biscuit recipe. I love biscuits.

most of the times I don't have all the ingredients or the I dont know the name of other ingredients for the recipe I saw in tv or in net. what I do is create them them with what I have and just adjust the seasoning to have a good flavor. But mostly if I have spices and meat, I just create my own simple recipe. Other ingredients are just to rich up the flavor.

I also find it is difficlut to find all the ingredint for the interesting recipem on the4 net or tv. Most of the time, I like to walk around the fresh market and get something I think will be great for cooking later. There are time when I didn't have the inspiration, I'll watch the cooking TV and get some idea for my next cooking.
