Well that's an interesting way to make people lose weight. However, imposing the tax will also be a violation of human rights and some people are just overweight because of genes. My friend eats very little yet she is overweight. But I can understand their concerns about the increasing rate of obese people as that leads to more health issues.

Taxation has multiple duties, apart from raising funds,it also curtails the surplus use of resources. In this case its the food resource.I am not at all surprised,I want such a law in my country too,if nothing else makes my sister lose some weight.[em][/em]

It reminds me of how airlines now make morbidly obese people pay for two seats on an airplane. Instead of crowding another passenger with their massive bulk, they ask them to buy two seats. The only people I feel sorry for are the people who have a medical condition that actually makes them be heavy. That's just sad.

Wow, that is a bit severe, what about those people who have genuine health problems and are fat, due to their medications or through heredity? I can't see them passing off this tax in the UK, people would be up in arms and it would be about people's rights, the government dare not try to impose this, besides wouldn't it lose voters? What are they going to do next, impose a tax on oxygen?

How ridiculous it is ! What reason do they have to do so? I wonder if they give reward to people whose weight is about right.I think the unpopular tax will soon be lifted.

That is crazy, and something on which I am going to have to do some research. I am half Danish, and this is definitely something I'd like to know about.

Um, are you referring to the "fat tax" that was repealed in Denmark on November 12? It was a tax on foods that are high in saturated fats, not a tax on overweight people...

At a first glance at it, I consider this as a weird law. Although it would be of help in one way or another, but still this would certainly hurt the feelings of those who are fat or overweight.

Ouch, so ouch. They must have a wonderful program on how to trim down. Dieticians are available for free and there are a lot of avenues to kill those fats away.
