Guys have you heard of chicken skin disease?? Lately I've been wondering what is this bumpy thing in the lower part of my shoulder is and then my friend saw it. He describe it as like of that chicken skin. So to my curiosity, I search google if there are this skin disease thing that look likes chicken skin. I found this Keratosis Pilares also known as chicken skin disease, it is said there that it a condition that result to a bumpy skin resulted by clogged hair follicle. It is also said there that about 50-80% of adolescence have this condition but some don't know they have. Anyone here that have same condition like mine?? Can you give me a suggestion on how to remove it or if not, just how to lessen its visibility is fine. I would prefer home remedies if possible. Thanks! :)

From my own frantic adolescent research, I certainly confirmed that I have keratosis pilaris. Glad I'm not the only one calling it "chicken skin", too! I inherited it from my mother, who grew out of hers by her early twenties. She has quite smooth skin now... no one would look at it for being odd. Mine is milder now than when I was a child (it was VERY dry and "scaly" looking then) but still quite obvious.
Things that have helped me out are quick-fix things like GENTLE exfoliation and better quality cream lotions, but at my very best, I've been drinking as much water as I need to every day and eating a lot of vegetable. The healthier I'm living, the less noticeable my skin is.

LOL, glad that I'm not the only one who have this condition. To be honest it kinds of annoy me and it also makes me shy if others keep starring at it that's why I never try wearing sleeveless shirts. I always wear one with long sleeve so I can hide it as much as I can. I also drink a lot of water just like you cause other says drinking water help prevent dry skin and other skin problem like pimples. I'm also doing my best to eat vegetable, back when I was a child I really hate eating it but now that I'm grown up, I kind of like it now. I hope with this diet, soon this skin problem will be gone. _

Thanks a ton for sharing this discussion. I can understand how curious and worried you are regarding this disease. But very honestly i have no single idea regarding this and i think such things happen with adolescents as adolescence is a growing stage where hormonal changes occur and u can observe many things happening inside u and on your body. So rather than getting worried u should consult a good doctor immediately and tell him in details regarding your issue.
What say?

Your welcome, I just like to share it so others can be aware of it and also to help myself to. It's just annoying to have this and makes me really shy when someone stare at it so as much as I can I try to hide it. But no worries, I'm kind of use to it already, I just hope that sooner or later, just like what I've read in the internet, it will be gone by itself. Thanks! :)

Here is a site that has an all natural remedy for this. The apple cider vinegar they mention is organic. Organic is better than regular distilled vinegar. Also, organic apple cider vinegar is good for many things. http://earthclinic.com/CURES/keratosis_pilaris.html This should help. And here is another site as well www.keratosispilarisinfo.org Good luck!
