In Spain, during the occupancy of Franco, people who began practicing the religion of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saint, most commonly known as the Mormons, found themselves in their places of worship surrounded by guards of Franco pointing guns at the them.
It was the practice of Franco to control all religious aspects in Spain at the time. He also would persecute anyone attempting to speak out against him. This was the very reason they had guards at the worship meetings of these Mormons; to assure no teachings where imparted to anyone that where contrary to what Franco wanted to people to believe.

this was the same way the Spanish Conquerors did in our country centuries ago. They persecuted people who contradicted some catholic doctrines or campaigned for reforms. A few among their many victims were the hero, Jose Rizal, the three priest-martyrs, and most who joined the revolution.
