It's been really tiring this day... By the way, i am working with a call center for a wireless network provider in the US. Since today is black friday, our company made some promotions about phone upgrades and it caused a lot of customers to call us. I mean after you hang up the call, another one would enter in just a matter of 2 seconds. It was so tiring because i was on a 9 hours shift earlier. How about you fellow mylotters, what's with your Black Friday?

Hi, are you living in the US side? I've heard alot about it and we people in Singapore study about it during our marketing classes too! Some of my friends are currently in US and they have been posting photos of super long queues and the crazy long waiting time. There's not so much of a woo ha of it over here in Singapore feels like we are missing out some great deals. It's tiring for you as you have to answer customer questions and all. But be happy that it's only once a year! Rest well!

Hi! Good to hear that you are feeling better now! Phew, your job sounds really tough. You are in the Philippines yet working for a US based company! I think they outsource their customer service to Philippines? Many companies are doing that now:)

I actually don't live in the US. I am from the Philippines, although we work for a US based company. Thanks, I already had a good sleep and i now feel better. It's just, you know harder than usual because we have to work during midnights to mornings because we have to follow the US time.

Thanks :) It's tough as it may sound. hehe.. Yeah, most US based companies outsourced here in the Philippines. You know, it's less costly to get manpower from another country like here.

Well, i think you made the right decision :) Spending time with your love ones is much better than going to stores full of people eager to buy discounted items. That way, you avoided troubles and stampedes and as well you had spent great time with your family.

Me too! I would rather shop online than falling in line. That would be more convenient..

Luckily I was able to stay at home and enjoy it, though last year I remember Black Friday at my job to not be soo hectic. I think i worked it, I'm almost certain I did, I believe I opened that day.. In any case, I do not envy you, and I feel sorry you had to work today. I am glad that you are off work now though, and just rest, relax? run a bath, a hot steaming bath and forget about all those endless conversations you had to have, and the whole "Thank you for calling (insert company name here) how may I assist you?" I know how it feels to have to repeat the same thing over and over.

Did you get paid any extra because of it being Black Friday? I am glad you seem to enjoy your job, but the money is always an added bonus! haha! I only work three times a week.

Unfortunately, i did not get any extra pay :( Are you a freelancer? Sometimes i do online jobs during my sparetime. The earnings at first was small, but now it's getting bigger and bigger. Maybe someday i would quit my job and switch to freelancing.

I just got home from a shift! Working retail on Black Friday is a special kind of suffering, especially when so many customers care more about a deal than treating us retailers with a shred of dignity. I only had to deal with a couple of customers who seemed to think I was worth less than the dirt on their shoes, and most people were really patient and understanding, so it wasn't nearly as bad as it could of been. According to one of my coworkers, it was apparently less busy this year than it was last year, too.

Yeah, there are customers who would not even care about you because they are just into getting the items no matter what. But, fortunately, some customer's were still kind that they understand that your already tired. I think you are right. This year is a less busy than the previous one. Maybe some customers already had the idea that they might wait long if they are gonna go shopping.

Just the usual, feels like a normal day. but when I used to work for a US based company that sells office supplies and furnitures, man, Black Friday was the busiest day of the year! Just hang in there, this only happens once a year.

You may get a really really good rest and hope your doing good already since I noticed that this was posted ten hour ago. I have worked as a call agent before too, but good things I have not experienced black friday discounts. I know how you feel, I know what's black friday means and how tiring it is.

I am sorry that you had to work on Black Friday. It is hard working retail this time of year and I have done this in the past. I had worked at J.C. Penney's and always hated working so early in the morning because people would push and shove to get items. One time I remember a little girl (she was 3) had gotten lost and it took her mom two hours to come back and get her. I stayed with the little girl until her mom showed up because the girl felt safe with me. My co-workers were upset with me because I did not help them out. My boss was the one who told me to stay with the girl because she was scared. I never go out shopping on Black Friday because there is too much madness. On Wednesday night I went to Walmart to pick up something and across the street there were people camped out at Best Buy waiting for the sales. It is terrible that people would miss Thanksgiving Dinner and camp out just to get a deal.

Thank you... Fortunately, you did not have work this day.. :) It's not really your fault and you actually did what's best to do that time. I know your co workers realized that. Yeah, it's sad that people have to skip or ignore thanks giving just to be first on the line at Walmart or other stores. It's just a reflection of the economy, that, you know is going down. People would rather do such things to buy discounted items.

Our Black Friday here happens around April during the Holy Week and it is always a holiday.
