I feel so much tired when i press my school uniform on a daily basis and i don't like wearing it on a daily basis,it makes me lazy, awkward looking uniform looks like a burden on me,if it was not compulsory in school i would not have wear it,first of all it gets dirty so often because its nearly white,i usually wear dark colours, but it makes me sad and demotivated when i wear my uniform!
What do you say?

No need to press uniform daily , when washing it put a fabric conditioner them hang the clothes , don't twist the clothes . The uniform then appears like being pressed. Times like ours today , we must be practical and innovative.

I think you are angry because you don't want to wear the uniform. You are making lots of excuses for why you do not like them, but you can adjust your attitude to accept them since you cannot change the policy. make it work!
But on the other hand, I really do not like uniforms. I was a teacher in schools that required the students to wear uniforms and I did not like them then at all. They reasoned that they uniforms helped erase the division between rich and poor. But that's not true - the poor kids wore beat down clothes and the rich ones had nice uniforms.
The other argument was to identify strangers that might be on campus. The trouble I had with that was that all the school shootings were done by students. so if the school where the shooting occurred had worn uniforms, the shooter would have had one on too! I do not like uniforms at all...

I think uniforms point out the disparity they do not bring uniformity. The rich kids can still buy name brand uniforms while the poor kids must purchase theirs in a thrift store or wear hand-me-downs. It does not close the gap. I hate uniforms.!

Thanks for you comments macdingolinger,i think its just a compulsion on students, may be their mind will focus only on books, not their fancy dresses,It brings uniformity among students, but one more thing i would like to suggest is that in poor countries people are not even able to spend money on uniforms but still they are forced by the school authorities to purchase one,i dont think its good at all, uniforms should not be there for poor, they dont even have clothes to cover their body, how are they gonna purchase expensive uniforms!
what do you think?

Schools need it for identification purposes...you have to be pregnant in order for you to be exempted in wearing it....

True, they are for identification purposes although some schools don't require their students to wear uniforms... it's also a good way to identify that that child is schooling. Because some students are naughty and find themselves cutting classes because they don't wear their uniforms, they are not easily identify that they cut class. In order that some establishments know that they are students, schools require uniforms. in a way it is good because some establishments in my place don't allow students to hangout in such places during school hours. that way, they can identify that they are cutting they're classes.

I prefer uniform than civilian clothes in going to school and in office. It is easy to recognize what is my school and what company is I am working at. If it is not implemented to wear in the school maybe I would feel sick to think for my outfit almost everyday because I always wear those clothes.

Why? It is good to be in school uniform. At least everybody knows you that you are a student and not just somebody who doesn't want to achieve something for the future. In my opinion, I am very proud to wear school uniform everyday. In this case, my parents will not be wasting their money of buying clothes for me to wear everyday with different styles. At this very moment, everything is expensive and so we need to save.

I don't agree with the part at least everyone knows you are a student and not just somebody who doesn't want to achieve something for the future. Cloths don't make the people, people make the clothes. A business man in a suit isn't different from someone who wear street clothes. The appearance maybe different but what really counts is the brains. How do a person really act. Someone in uniform may not achieve anything in life and a person outside of uniform may become presidents. Things maybe expensive but you can still choose where you by your close. The I graduated from went from uniform to not having a uniform and I enjoyed wearing the close I want to wear. Showing my true style. Being the real me. A uniform may show and organization but a person only reveal themselves.

Most private schools in the U S and some public schools require uniforms. Most schools that do not require a uniform do have a dress code, which would be fine if it were enforced. The dress of some of the students walking to school makes me sick. You should wear your uniform with pride.

The uniforms where I live are T shirts and sweat shirts with the school logo on them. Kids have a choice of what style T they want. I don't particularly like them, but parents don't have to spend a ton of money on school clothes. The shirts are good for the kids because they can play and get dirty without worrying.

I think for the most part uniforms are a good idea. I can understand how they can be hard to take care of, and not real flattering. They do cut down on peer pressure though because everyone wears the same thing. With uniforms, you don't have to worry if you can't spend as much on clothes as some of your classmates!

I never liked uniforms in school but they say it is for all can look alike and no differance in them, but that is not a good thing for still having to buy the uniform at least some here did and some had a hard time for it fit and look right. The rich bought the best and the poor just what ever was leftover..you could still tell the differance.. I think at the school in alot of good times for kids if they would let them and bring back the basics in school..like how to survival in time of trouble and how to sew, safety things and how to drive and so forth .. they took alot out of school and alot is not called for and alot of kids hate school becuase it is no interest in things anymore ..the clothes they wear should show as important as how they wore it..be decent and kind but be adventure and fun to learn place to.. the system is not good and not likeable as much anymore...wake up world...

I am so glad our kids never had to wear uniforms, they tried t get kids to wear them at one time but the parents took a stand and did not comply. We looked at prices and they were more then what we would pay for school clothes on our own. Hope you make it through school and go to a college that doesn't have a dress code.

I think that uniforms give the student a sense of identity with a team or a group and that they are a good idea. If the student doesn't wear a uniform, then the school becomes a show place of fashion for the wealthier students to compete with each other in fashion. When uniforms are the dress code, the focus of students can be directed to competing academically. However, I do think that on game day when the sports team is playing another school that the students should have free choice day and be allowed to dress modestly in casual clothing.

School uniforms tend to serve several purposes. One factor is that they impose a certain dress code by stopping students from wearing from arriving at school in outrageous or bizarre clothing inspired by the latest music videos or the latest fashion craze. They also help to eliminate the possibility of pupils wearing seductive clothing since school uniforms are not usually available in very short skirts and insist on shirts for girls instead of low cut blouses.
I would say that school uniforms serve a purpose but are not really necessary as long as a reasonable dress code is enforced. It is often a financial burden to parents who have to purchase uniforms which most people will not wear outside of school, thus constituting extra clothing.

I went to school in Lima, Peru and we had to wear a school uniform in both the primary and secondary schools. It was easier to wear uniforms and that also gave us a sense of pride in our school by just having to wear that uniform every day!

I feel uniforms are really unimportant. They are just used for the good eye sight and do not have much significance. Most of the people will support by telling that it sows the unity but it doesn't make it.
I am feeling so good with my clothes becuase I need not to wear uniforms. We are freed to wear color dresses

uniform will let the people identify who you are, where do you school or work and etc. but we are talking school uniform here... if it is necessary or not. for me it is important but less necessary or vice versa. what matters to me is that the quality and the services given to the students. however we must be proud of wearing it because it will tell some aspect of our institution and studentry. aside from that, as a student we adhere to follow the rules and regulations set by the school administration... if we really do not like to wear uniforms, we are free to transfer to universities which do not required students to wear so

I have only been to one school that required something of a uniform. There was a lot of gang violence in that neighborhood, so we all had to wear white shirts and blue pants of some kind. It wasn't very nice looking, and wearing white is annoying, but I also found that it kind of leveled everyone. When I compare it to other schools, it was refreshing not to have to worry so much about what to wear or getting judged for not wearing whatever was "in" at the time.
I can understand your annoyance at having it pressed and clean, but at least you don't have to worry if you are wearing the right thing. And sooner than you think, you will be out of school and will have all choices available to you!
