Every now and then a new model of smart phones are launched in the markets, with the same features and just a change of shape thats all,i have seen people making millions of pre orders,my question is that why are we wasting so much money on these phones?can't we keep using our old cell phones? Is it just to show off or the new features are really beneficial?
What do you think?

some people have this interest about getting new phones what ever model entered the market. We cant blame them some have the purpose and they will use .But some buy them without any purpose. Just for show off. The quality is important but some sees only the outlook .Those who have money may not think twice to get all those stuff as its not a big deal for them. But some youngsters are just mad about them .

I think it's a waste of time and money if you're not going to use the applications and the other features of the phone. If you only use your phone to call or send text messages, then I think a smart phone isn't necessary. I guess it really depends on the person's needs. But yes, I've noticed that there are some who have smart phones but don't know how to use it except to call. Well, it's their money.

I agree some need only simple phones as they dont have much work with them so they can choose simple ones instead of smart ones.I have seen such people they maintain costly phones just for show off.

I really think that cellphones really aren't.worth what they charge for them. I do have a galaxy a3 which I just got this week, and it is doesn't too. Choir a down payment on it and then they add twenty dollars to my bill each month. My bill Isn't to bad, so I just deal with it. My bill is under $100 each month. It isn't like my daughter, who has a bill that is $250 every month. She is paying for there lines. plus data for all of them, and I question it, because she is stifling to pay her bills every month. It is her money though, and if she wants to pay that much, then so be it. I certainly wouldn't. I do use the features of my cellphone, so I am making good use of it. Take care, and have a great day.

I don't own a smartphone. And I really don't understand why people want to own the latest smartphone when their old cellphones are still working. So impractical. I've had my dumb Nokia phone for the past six years and it's still working for me and suits my needs so why should I buy the latest smartphone? It's such a superfluous purchase. I think the money is better spent elsewhere.

The geeks, the technology freaks are addicted to gadgets. Buying new smartphones is their hobby, just like others would love eating, sleeping, buying ornaments, clothing and more.
If you think smartphones are not for you, just move on for something better.

well some people follow the latest/famous mobiles..and its depends also the people if the can really afford to buy the smartphones..yes,changing the phones every now and then is just really wasted a money,we waste the cost of buying and not only that also the credit of the phone so that you can make a call and texting..but its a bit worhted too, because even some people doesn't really want to spend much but its very helpful too because you can use facebook, skype ect..on smartphones.which is saving when u go in the internet caffe and spent long time setting there just to open your fb...

Hi friend, i don't think smart phones are waste of money, it is essential for some business persons, but if you are using it for social status and getting image, then it is waste of money. It is based on the individual needs. Updating mobile phones always based on the recent trend is not a good thing, if you really need the new update then you can buy it, otherwise save money for some other needs

yes you are right smart phones are really huge market and people now a days have a smart phone. but I think its not really proper to have a smart phone everyone and then its really a waste of money. what you have right now is enough as long as it can connect to the internet, used the basic app thats it.

Firstly, i have not changed my cell for several years. And i just decided to change it when it is out of work. So the updated and fashionable cells can not easily catch my eyes.
Secondly, i think it is such a goup of cell fans that update the cells quickly, especially Iphone you know. We are always inclined to call them Iphone fans, a group pushing Iphone industry foward. They will reserve the updated one in the first time they come to the market. They are so crazy that they never take such big cost in their mind. Iphone just was kept an image as a famous star in their heart. You have got the point in your passage that most updated ones just have changed their appearance and some useless function, but they never care about that.
So i think everyone has his own idea about the cell. The fact that they bought updated cells is not bcoz they want to show off but they like fashion and are really fans..

New model usually has a unique feature compare to older smartphone.
Like what? If a smartphone release in 2013 is precisely the same like 2012, then most user will not buy / upgrade. In this case is exactly the same.
Of course not. How can a product difference is just the name like xyz-1 with xyz-2, but the product is same.
New feature of a smartphone that we can benefit from them is like holding a smartphone. Yes, it can be a uniq feature, so the smartphone is easy to hold, prevent falling to ground, or falling to ground is ok because the case is extremely well built. So that smartphone is for exclusive people. Or maybe there is smartphone with baterry so... long enough power to talk non stop for all day, all night, and maybe tommorrow without charge. It can be called an improvement or unique features too. So, people who like to talk all day or usually travelling prefer that smartphone.
Of course smartphones marketing leader can predict what is the people needs nowadays, and how can they profit from this industry. If not, they can't survive or collapse.

I think we can't blame them because they have money in order to purchase new smart phones...whereas, if they can't afford to buy for a new one, they will just be sticking to their old phones and just wait until the time that they have money to purchase for a new one...

It's not waste if you are rich. People can buy because they can afford that enormous price and they love it since that our generation is high advance in technologies. They don't take it as a waste, but us? is a waste though !! :)
