for people who do not know about India, I would like to inform you that there are about 30 different states in India and each one of them speak different language. So there is not language called as Indian in India. people from each state is so mad about there own state that they consider their state above country. and if a person from one state goes to another state for job, or anything else he/she would be hated for not being local. Most of them need a separate country.
I'm from north India but I live in south India. yesterday I was going in my car and this road was narrow. so an on coming cab driver did not want to move right a bit so that we both could pass. he wanted to act bossy and reverse my car all the way back, I got down to speak to him. Suddenly public gathered and started shouting , this is south and I must not act smart. they broke my car with stones and pushed me. after this incidence, I'm no longer patriotic and feel so disgusted. An Indian is not safe in India. where else can he go ??

so sorry to hear this sad experience. Indians against Indians? Does the politics have something to do about this? I cant imagine how it is there now. Is there a civil war going on? I haven't heard anything about it. Why are they or you territorial? I symphatize with you.

I hope the same too. I have started feeling less safer in my own country. People here do not respect life.

yes, I've heard it from lot of people that Indians in foreign countries are much more united and patriotic. specially in South India, north Indians are targeted. they have some sort of an inferiority complex, may be. But in north India every one is treated same to some extent ..

Hello damanpreetsingh,
I am sorry to hear this from you. I do apologize on behalf of the state. I agree there is discrimination in some person’s mind. I consider them as narrow minded people. However, I do respect all people from all states. I am from South but living in North and I am proud to say I do get much respect from people in north. They are very happy if I interact with any and they ask about the state, food and lot of things.
In road, every one thinks that they are the king in road. Once they sat in driver’s seat, then they felt that they are sitting in highest position and can rule every one. Not only to other state’s people they have the same attitude towards lady driver’s too (I don’t drive but I read the same in many places) Men in South are very egoistic and never ready to compromise.
However, it does not mean the whole population is like that. There were good and caring people too.

time has changed rapidly. They can't see people from north migrating and working in software and other corporate companies making nice money cars and housed for themselves.

Just one or two incidents should not make you feel bad about our country. I am sure that the same thing happen not only in India but also in other countries but people from those countries don't spread hate speech about their motherland just because of one or two bad incidents. We Indians are the only ones who only speak about the dark side of our country and completely ignore the bright side.

I really wish, there would be Love and brother hood every where. but in every corner I see linguist people, communal ism . people want to discriminate on every possible base. even in office I see people divided into different groups.

Yes, you are right in your observation that no body is Indian in India. We are still now divided over provincialism, racism and so many evils and this has been prevailing in our country from time immemorial and this is the only reason for intrusion of foreigners off and on.

Neither southern nor northern, better we should be a global citizen. We must treat every individual of the world nicely. May be we are passing through a dogmatism. We must get over the problem.

Hi daman,
I am north Indian and have lots of south Indians in my organisation and I also have felt it that south Indians don't like to talk to us but that's not the thing by which we can conclude there are people too who are opposite and are friendly. Even in Delhi too I have met many people like you met in south but they would have been like this only if they were in south too. But that's for sure most of us don't think about nation they just think more about their state than country which is wrong.

Hi damanpreetsingh, your statement made me laugh at first. We from South would complain that North Indians are not co operative, this and that. From these we cannot conclude that no one is having love and affection with the other state people. When I was in North India recently, the local vendors are just laughing at the other South Indian tourist people for language. It does not mean all the North Indian people are bad. And our house owner happened to be a good person and moves along with us genuinely. It does not mean all the North people are good.
Only thing is humanity, being courteous, and accepting others has reduced.
