I dont know whats wrong with my son. Last night and one time before last night he woke up out of a dead sleep screaming. Not his normal screaming either, Like he was in A LOT of pain or had a bad dream. It took me over an hr to calm him down. He looked terrified like he didn't even know me.
What should I do? Does anyone had this happen to their child and can give me tips on what to do? It really scared me.

Sometimes, dreams are associated with physical pains too. for example if we have toothache we dream the our teeth fall of endless (I had that before such a bloody dream). Maybe you can bring him for medical check up, something must be bothering him physically. This is just my point of view. but you may want to consider the tips given in this link.

and see how it will go to your son. Good luck and relax. He needs you more than ever now. You need to be strong.

He was sick when this was happening. I had him to the doctor last monday. I hope now that he is feeling better that this does not happen anymore.

How old is your son? Could it be teething, leg cramps? I remember as a kid waking up with them, and just screaming in pain (now as adults it doesnt seem as painful LOL). It could also be dreams. Record when it happens in a book, or paper and see if its a reoccuring thing.

I did start recording the times when it happens and it only seems to happen once a week. Its weird. I dont understand it :( i feel so bad for him. Hes turning 1 next week. i thought it could be teething but hes fine during the day. i dont know what else it could be besides night terrors.

Ah, yes, "night terrors", I remember them well, lol. Scary, but harmless, very common in kids once they hit about two years old usually. My daughter went through a spell of them, she would actually seem like she was wide awake, but would sit there and scream inconsolably. Not really much you can do about them unfortunately and they will almost never even remember having the incident. They pass fairly quickly though, so take heart.

Night terrors. My son had them when he was about 3 or 4. He was not actually awake. I have been told to never wake them up because it can scare them. Most of the time they do not remember them. I always woke my son up and he calmed down immediately. It took a minute to wake him up though.

I tried waking him up but i guess he was so deep into the dream that he would not wake up. It was really scary for me to go through so i can just imagine how scared he was.

how old is your son anyways? If he is old enough to give an answer to questions i suggest you should him if there is something painful or hurting to him physically or if there is something or someone scaring him... or maybe watch for signs that something hurts in his body..

Hes turning 1 next weekend. I looked at his body to see if he cut himself or something and did not see anything, but he was sick when this was happening so hopefully now that hes feeling better these nightmares will stop.
