Do you get annoyed when you have to wait or stay a long time for an appointment?

I went to the bank today to open a checking account. It literally took two hours. It was awful. First the lady at the counter told me that the gentleman that would be helping me was with someone. That he can talk a lot so it would be a few minutes. It ended up taking twenty minutes. Then when he finally got done he wanted to explain literally every detail about a checking account. Almost as if I were a person from mars and didn't understand anything about a bank. He also had me take the keyboard and type in all my information.
He also decided to show me how the online banking worked on the computer. When we were finally about finished he walked me out to the counter to show me where the withdraw and deposit slips were and explained how to use those as well. It was all so annoying. I just kept telling myself I will get $100 for this account so just hang in there. Have you ever had an experience like that?

aren't you considering that this is first day in the job? he has been training this probably for months and you are his first lucky customer to assist. Dont you like it, it is a service-deluxe. It is quite annoying true but does this person knows that you have enough information and it's okay not for you to go through all these procedure? Did you tell him that you have some other things to do aside from this opening account. relax ang take it easy.

No it wasn't his first day the job. The first lady who made copies of the paperwork I had told me that he tends to talk a lot so it should be about five mins. It was almost twenty minutes before I went into his office. Most people know the general information about banks. Those things were unnecessary to go into detail. Who doesn't have things to do on the weekend? He should have been quicker it would have been more efficient. But I was doing much better once I was able to get out of there.

I would really be annoyed if i had an appointment and i am there on time but the said peron/company would keep me waiting for hours. Its just not what professionalism is.
I have had such an experience, when being called for an interview, banks, doctors and dentists. I would be pacified though if the secreatary would be apologetic and would tell me why there is a delay.. but i would probably get into a fight if i had to face someone who's got an attitude with me.

I agree with you. I was very frustrated. I was very relieved when it was finally over with. I also received my $100 bonus so I was happy about that. It would have been nice though if they would be more considerate of people's time. But I just kept telling myself about the bonus in my head.

I'd like to behave as much as I can if i have no choice but to wait. But with what has happened to you, I think that the person you talked to is a new employee and we know that new employees do follow everything that is taught to them.
If I were told exactly the same, i would have cut him short coz I know exactly what I am expecting from opening an account.

I'm not sure if he was new because he had a big office and the other lady just said he can talk a lot. It was just very frustrating. I was very happy when it was over. And I got my account bonus and that made it even better. If I wasn't getting a bonus I would have been highly upset about him talking for it.

Yeah I decided to just wait it out since I had already driven there. I too had a lot to do that day and so it was just bothersome that I had to wait a long because the person talks a lot. I'm still hoping to see my money in my account. I keep checking every now and then but haven't received it yet.

I agree with you. It is very bad to have to wait for such a long period of time. It is sad when we are expected to be at our appointment on time and then we have to wait a long time for them to see us. I'm still waiting to see the fruits of that labor in my account. I can't wait to see it in there because I'm striving to get our emergency savings fund going.

Hi friend, we are in need to wait for a long time in some places like banks, hospitals and so on. Surely we will get more irritation in the waiting time, as well as we are in need to fill a lot of application form for various purposes. We must face this kind of situations in our life, keep patience to achieve a lot in your life

I agree with you. There are often times a lot of paper work that needs to be done when we go to different places. And that really can take up a lot of time. Yeah we do have to work on our patience so that we are better able to deal with these things. It's also a good idea to bring something that we have to work on or that we would like to read so that if we do have to wait we will have something to keep us busy.

Yes, I will be so annoyed to it. I often doubt why the staff in the bank are so inefficient. Why they can't work faster because customers keep waiting for a long time and they are just complaining about it. This is why I hardly go to the bank. Usually I take advantage of the online banking and the ATM machine. However, not everybody can do so. So the bank has to improve their service no matter what.

yes, i go to alot of dr visits with various doctors. i have to hurry up to get there, but i then have to wait... there was on doctor whom i waited for for 5 hours. i am glad i only had to see him once. he is a very good doctor and the office is very full. i think it is wrong to wait that long, don't you. i don't like to wait on the phone either when i need customer service. i have to wait very long at times for some of these companies or products i buy, etc...

I definitely agree with you. It is wrong to have to wait for five hours. I think people should be more considerate even if they are very important individuals. I hope that in time companies will be able to do better in this regard. It would help their business.

I would hate to wait anywhere for two hours. That is not good service to me. The bank manager would probably get a phone call from me later if this happened to me. THey need to know that there are some breaks in their workings. Had you type in your information and was explaining to you like you were from another planet? THis is not good customer service. I would worry that other things would happen to my service also. Why would you want to be a customer at a bank where you were treated like this? How are you going to get $100? For opening the account? I have never been treated like this. I would have my eyes and ears open and be looking for another bank because this one doesn't soung like it has much going on.

Yeah that whole process was frustrating. I'm suppose to get $100 for opening the account and using my debit card for whatever purchases. I have done that but I'm still waiting for the bonus to be in my account though. I'm sure that it will come in time. My husband received one last year and the bonus worked for him. So I'm just patiently waiting to see when I get mine. Other than that there is no other reason I feel inclined to stay at this bank after this experience.

The bank was having a promotion and you got $100. I bet it was worth the wait. Everybody probably dislikes waiting and gets impatient when they have to wait for more than a little while. I guess that's why patience is a virtue. I'm glad you got the $100.

Thanks. I'm glad that this promotion was on. That is what I kept telling myself when I was waiting to get out of the there-to think about the extra money I would be receiving. How are you and your family doing? I hope that you are doing well.

Oh yes, there have been loads of times that I have been left waiting for appointments that people have made and ensure that they were late in seeing me for the appointment that they have made.I feel that some appointments could have been halved and that the time was a waste, as most of it I already did know.

Yeah I agree with you. Our time is precious and often we have many things to do. So when someone waste it, it bothers us a great deal. I'm glad that I had a bonus to my appointment otherwise I would have been really upset about the time frame that I was there for.

Yeah, several times, especially in our country, bank service is far from good. Oh boy, the waiting is really long and we waste a lot of time. I see the employees just chatting around and not doing anything, only one teller is serving and so many of us are waiting to be served. They are so insensitive and inefficient, they have to be fired.

Yeah I felt the same way about this experience. It was so inefficient and there weren't that many customers which is another reason why it bothered me so much. I'm was so happy when it was finally over. I will have to remember to bring a book or something when things like this happen.

Thanks a ton for sharing this discussion. Well i can understand your situation and i am sure u would have been irritated like hell waiting for a long time in that bank. I think this does happen with most of us. Even i find it tough to stand in long queues especially when u have an urgent work and the bank employees whose job is to handle the customers very well disappoint us largely. They should rather leave their jobs if they are not able to handle their customers properly.
What say?

Yeah I agree with you. I think that if they can't handle their job properly they should find another one. Time is precious and a person should be considerate of someone else's time. It is the right thing to do. If people were more like this things would go a lot smoother. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

i really hate waiting for something or someone not only for an appointment but in general.. i remember one time when i`m waiting for a result it takes 2 hrs just for it.. so it should not be like that.. 30 mins to 1 hour is fine.. bearable but after that time... is so annoying... i hope people will be considerate enough..

Yeah waiting two hours is a long time. I was very frustrated because at the bank the person wasn't considerate all. He knew when I got there and how long I had to wait when he over talks everything. But thankfully I will hope to receive my bonus soon for opening an account with this bank. I agree that 30-to an hour is ok. But after that it gets annoying.
I should have brought something with me to read. But I was in such a rush to get everything done that I didn't put anything in my purse. I would have felt a lot better if I had something to do for that time period rather than stare at the clock on the wall.

I would not be annoyed if someone would show me everything. I would be surprised. This is also something I would call: service. If you don't need that kind of service you should have say: thank you I am familiar and know how it works. If I have to wait long for an appointment (sitting for "ages" in the waitingroom for example) it depends on how urgent it is to see that person. If not I just leave and come back an other time. If I think it's bad service I go elsewhere. I don't like to be annoyed by something like that or get stress out of it. In certain cases you already know in forward you have to wait so if so.. I count on that in advance and don't care either.
