I have gotten my big Christmas tree up in the living room and that room and the dining room decorated. A few years ago I decided not to put up so much....as at the time I had over 600 snowmen. I got rid of most of them but this year I feel like doing more. I have a smaller tree that I am going to decorate for the first time in about three years....I am anxious to have it back up again. Do you just put up one tree or do you do more. Do you like having just a little or alot of decorations?

600 snowmen?! That is quite a collection. We haven't had a tree in years now. They are so expensive and for just the few weeks it just doesn't seem relavant. We used to put up one tree, had a wreath for the door and all of that. But now we do nothing at all. We are lucky to have turkey and a nice dinner and afew gifts for the kids. Christmas has lost its reason for being anyway.

Yes....I had about 150 on the tree alone. I kept all of those as many were gifts from friends and family....but I sold most of them. Kept the ones I like and they are in storage. It took three to four days to put them up. I had them skiing over my cupboards with lights and snow....I had them up the stairs....in different settings. It just became too much...I still love snowmen....but went a simpler route this last two years. I just couldn't do it anymore....climbing up and placing them all over.....

Awww, you are so beating me at putting up the tree, haha! I don't even have mine yet, but I buy a real tree, and I have to wait for my daughter to take me. I just want a little one but then again, I said that last year and ended up with a 5' tree which ended up being 6' in the stand. It was beautiful but a bit much for me since I'm alone too.
This year I only want a small tree, maybe just 4' so I can manage it. I do have a fake pine tree that has little white lights on it and that is in the bedroom. I use it all year and my 6 year old granddaughter Lucy, likes to decorate it for the holidays so that's why I keep it. It is very pretty though in the evening and I use it for a nightlight until I go to bed, just to light up the room a little...makes it cozy.
My decorations go up usually before I even get my tree, which I'll probably do tomorrow. I don't put up a as much as I used to, but, it's enough to make Christmas a special time of the year for me. I'd like to buy some old vintage items on Ebay to make the house memorable of when I was a kid. That would be fun.

Like you mentioned...gotta keep it in the heart! I have had a real tree for 65 years and I can't imagine not having it now. Plus, a box of Whitman's chocolates when I'm decorating. Those are my traditions from childhood.

I love Christmas decorations. Last year I took most of my own decorations to my parent's house to try to cheer my dad up. This year I want to really decorate my own apartment to cheer myself up. I hope you can post some pictures of your trees because I'd love to see them.

Up until last year, I put up a real tree but then went and bought a pre-lit real looking tree last year and all I have to do is take it out of the box and fix the limbs and it's ready to decorate.
I use lots of decorations and do it all little by little. I undecorate the same way.

This year we have a tree that hangs. This is the first time in many years that any decorations have been put up at this house. I like a lot of decorations but I honestly don't see how that will happen in this house. I feel as if why decorate a messy messy house. I will be putting more decorations up though but not too many. Some lights to illuminate, possibly putting them in the hallway, something cheerful. I may buy a singing santa or tree or omething.

If I had my own place I'd be going all out and putting as many decorations up as I could and had space for. This house used to be full of decorations for Christmas and very clean, now it's not and I don't think it ever will be completely clean again.
Either way have a Merry Christmas, and enjoy putting up all the decorations. My favorite are the lights on the tree.

Personally, we do not have much room to put up more that a small tree if we want too. But since we both work different shifts, and actually have to work Christmas day, we are not really going to do anything more about a tree, or decorations more than we already have up. I feel what we have up is enough decorations. And since no one really comes around, and we have no kids, this is fine for us.

Sounds like you are all geared up for the holidays. Have fun decorating the last tree. Actually, we don't put up a tree at all. Our daughters do so we find it easier to visit and celebrate the holidays with them around their tree. I have more fun watching the grandkids open their gifts. Hope you had a nice Thanksgiving.

No decorations at home, because we're never at home on christmas. It's just my husband and I and the cat, who'd destroy any decorations we'd put up. We always go to toronto for Christmas, and the hotel we stay at is always very nicely decorated. It's a great way to be able to enjoy the decorations, without having to do the work. LOL

Wow! Isn't that early? It would drive me bonkers to have a tree in the house for a whole month before Christmas.
My youngest son is already pestering me about decorations, but I won't be giving in until the week before Christmas. We'll cut a tree from the forest and he'll make the decorations. It will never make the glossy magazines, but it'll mean something to this family.

Hi jill,
I usually put up one tree and I have a ton of decorations. They are not the fancy kind but the ones that I have saved throughout the years from my children. Well..I have some fancy to go with them. Everytime we open the decoration box, it is like a trip down memory lane..lol. My girls love going through them so I most always have help with the tree. I do have one other special decoration. It is a ceramic tree about 2 ft tall with removable colored bulbs. I used to play with it myself when I was a tiny thing and my grandmother give it to me because I loved it so much when I was little and came to visit. It was amazing to see it after so many years.

That is wonderful! I love having the old things too. My son's ornaments are still here. Every year I gave them one so when they started their own tree they would have ornaments to take with to start it with....so all I really have is my son's and he is waiting until he gets a house to take them....some of them are so old!

We use to put our tree up in November, we use to be one of the first in the street, lol. Now we tend to put it up later, as we have a lot less room in the house as there are so many of us that live here.
We use to have all lights up at the window, as well as house decorated even in the childrens rooms, lol.
We always take the tree down boxing day, as it makes more room for the children to play and to move around.
I like the front room and the hall way to be decorated alot as then it feels like christmas more than just a tree.

We will be decorating our tree today as well as decorating the house. I love decorating and going all out on Christmas. I have a big tree and a small table top tree that I will be putting out. I also have a wreath that I will hang up outside and maybe some lights outside. I have a lot of ornaments as well as a few snow globes, a few Santa Claus's (two that sing and dance), snowmen, and ceramic houses. This year I will be looking for a couple of stuffed animals and putting on Popsicle sticks (to make them look like skates) and use one of my chaser plates to make a skating rink. I have to have a lot of decorations.

I don't normally go all out with the decorations. I usually do the tree, stockings, and a big snowflake on the front door. I have not done any decorating yet this year. I was thinking about doing it today since I am off work, but I really don't feel up to it since I have this pounding headache and my sinuses acting up.

We opt to only do one Christmas tree in our house and just a few other Christmas decorations. The reason that we stick to just one Christmas tree is because of the fact that we just don't have any place that we would be able to put additional Christmas trees in our home.
We limit the number of other decorations that we have because of the fact that I don't really want to store them and I don't want to make our house look gaudy during the holiday season.
