Oh yes! I love Trinidad and Tobago! The people are so easygoing and down to earth, we are so accepting. There are people of all different religions, ethnicity and races, and over time we’ve all mixed in to one unique melting pot.
Now there is so such mixture of races I don’t think any true Trinbagonian can say they are “pure” anything. Visibly I look like my African origin, but I also have Amerindian, Spanish and Indian traces in my blood as well. My husband is Spanish, African, Chinese and Indian. Funny, our skin tones are almost exactly alike. Our culture came from all over the world and we’ve developed a unique mixture of Indian, African, Chinese, Amerindian and western culture along with T&T’s own unique flavor mixed in. And Carnival is my favorite cultural highlight of the year.
Although I do leave the country for various reasons, and sometimes really like the places I visit, I could never love anywhere else as much as I love here. Even now that I live in the USA where I go to school – and I am grateful for the opportunity and will do my host school and country proud – I really love my homeland.
