I Doubt You have Any Reason To Say Awesome

November 24, 2012 4:16pm CST
Ask yourself - have you ever done anything Awesome? I only ask because the word seems to be being used a lot over recent years. I was educated, so I know that awesome means something that inspires AWE. Sunrise on a clear morning An Eclipse. The Birth of a Child I could go on...... Nothing YOU ever do in your life is Awesome - Food is never Awesome, people responding to a post... not Awesome. How did you sleep? - It was not Awesome. How was work today? - Not Awesome. There is an exception to the final one - Imagine a day in late summer in 1969, A bloke gets out of his company vehicle after arriving home and he is asked..... "How was your day Mr Armstrong" AWESOME! Next time, lets talk about the ones that do not know the meaning of RANDOM

I believe the word itself is open to interpretation. Awesome for me is a grand gesture, something that occurs above and beyond, a well shot photo, etc. I believe some posts are awesome. I think some people are awesome in their talents. Is awesome slang? It was, but it can also be found in the dictionary. Ramdom, is the posts that occur under the categories from above, I have always disliked the word. I expect nothing from the word random.

Awesome! Such an awesome post! Yes it came from the word AWE. and AWE is such a strong word. But we have different tastes and preferrences. An awesome to you may not be awesome to others and vice versa. A simple thing could be awesome to others not to you. Different folks with different strokes.

I can't remember using the word awesome but I guess it might be possible to describe the bright green flash that I saw as the sun was setting over the ocean when I was in Hawaii and that was just visible for a blink of an eye as being awesome. As far as having done something that is awesome probably not unless you would consider preventing a riot by fellow trainees one night during basic training for the Army as being described with that term.

In a previous life I once patted the end of a fused Polaris missile. When one considers the potential of those things to wipe whole cities from the face f the earth that is pretty awesome. However, I agree. We tend to use superlatives willy nilly and erroneously - footballers are 'heroes' etc.

That is Awesome. I think it is a lack of real English lessons in school and a shrinking vocabulary of the next generation

Wel I see what you mean. I use the word here about MyLot. I use it to emphasize the site itself. I do agree that it is being used as an expression more often then not. You're right, nothing in life really is awesome. I cannot think of anytime in my life except for when my children were born that I was awe struck. Nothing can be that great.

I wish I could say this. Probably the 2 most awesome things was having my 2 sons which both are grown now. When I had some extra money I gave a few dollars to homeless people. A couple times I gave $5 like once to a man who was stranded. If I had allot of money I would always help someone if I happened to notice someone who needed some help with cash. I think to help others is pretty awesome. The showing of friendliness, being social, kindness, thoughtfulness, love and other good things is awesome. Whatever created (God) this beautiful world and us and other wonderful living animals, pets is awesome.
