daily dose of depression

I used to enjoy playing sports and participating in outdoor activities such as football, camping, exploring etc. However, there is something that has been tormenting me throughout my whole life whenever I am involved in such activities as I would be in contact with plants. You might be thinking to yourself, "what?? plants? why? what about them?" well, I would like to find out as well why. Apparently, I found out that I have this unusual allergy towards chlorophyll, which causes my skin to start itching and swelling the moment I come in contact with them. My skin would turn reddish, forms up many bubble blisters, similar to a toad. It isn't just physically hurting to me, but also mentally, as I look horrendous and disgusting. My peers started to avoid me, they found me an eyesore and a creep. I began to sit out from the games, warming the bench. I started to lose interest in my favorite sports and activities. Slowly, I drifted away from my friends. Maybe one day I might find a cure, or something.. I am not expecting much or anything at all. Are there anyone else out there with similar problems like me? how do you overcome this?

If you are allergic to chlorophyll then you can't eat many vegetables or fruits? As many vegetables and fruits contain chlorophyll. I am trying to research this because I find it very interesting. Could you tell me what you can't eat? And you cannot come in contact with any plants? Please let me know.

Hi Deazil, I am able to eat vegetables, just not in contact with my body, back of the hands etc. areas that are not affected are the base of my feet, palm, face etc. mainly the body. I am not sure why either, it is definitely an uncommon allergic reaction. I've been to a clinic, my doctor just told me to avoid the grass, stop playing football, go with another sport instead, like swimming or something. however that's not what I love to do you see..

Are you allergic to all plants? I think you should see a Naturopathic doctor. Or a doctor who practices either Traditional Chinese Medicine or Ayurvedic medicine. So far I have only been able to find information on allergies to chlorophyll in food. Let me know if you are allergic to specific plants or all plants.

I you have the allergy for it, didn't the doctors tell you to pop up an antihistamine before going somewhere where you might be exposed? maybe you should ask your doctor on how to manage your allergy better.

hello jenny, I wasn't prescribed any pills to take, only medication to apply on the skin, however, its only used after I got the swelling and stuff. The only way is to avoid those activities.

Even though you like being outdoors, I would suggest trying indoor sports. I like being outside, camping and hiking, but last summer I took my son camping and had to get a motel room in the middle of the night because he wasn't able to breathe. I think it might have been the leaves around us and under the tent. Sometimes when you're looking for an indoor sport or something to do like it, you might find other people with similar allergies and become friends with them.

I have also experience but it's not as horrifying as you but anyway, it's a different situation. It's hard to overcome, you must overcome it by yourself through taking antihistamines and topical treatments just to heal it in the right time because you cannot socialize because of the mess thinking of the people. Are you taking anti-depressant? Just make fun of yourself by playing games, watching TV or what because only yourself can intervene what is the best to get rid of that depressing situation. Get well soon. :)

can you just go to the dermatologist to have it checked? There is no one here who can give you best advice but the doctor with expertise on that. I don't experience this at the moment so I am no right to tell you what to do and what not to do personally. I just want to tell you that you consult the doctor, please. you don't want to feel you are unwanted and people are avoiding you because of your situation. Go and check the doctor
