Docters are charging patients a lot these days, thanks to the medical insurance otherwise its would have been so difficult for the people to visit to the docter.I think its such a noble profession that they should think about it,people can't afford that much,Its like docters are working only for rich people because poor people cant afford to pay their heavy charges,Good docters = high fees, not good ones=low fees, why is that so? i think its a right of a person to get proper medical treatment, even in medical insurance, the listed docters are the one's who are not that good!

Yes you are true that now a day doctors are charging more and medical expenses are going up.It is very difficult for a common people to afford the medical expenses which is going beyond the reach.I had gone through a similar situation when I diagnosed with a calculi(stone) in my left ureter and the doctors asked me to undergo lithotripsy (a procedure of removing the calculi without incision in body). The total expenditure was about 10,0000 INR which was beyond my expection.I was expecting somewhere around 40,000 INR.Thanks to my health insurance company who covered 70% of the cost. Therefore every body should have minimum insurance coverage so as to meet the expenses in critical time.

Actually one can get free medical attention on government owned hospitals. Although, they just have to persevere in waiting in line because since it's for free , there would be a long line of clients to be.
I guess for those private doctors, they charge a high fee because they also paid so much for becoming a doctor. Although, some doctors when they see their clients really needing the help, they would advise them on how they can get free medicines one their prescribed medicines which i think they give for free.

It is true that doctors now a days charge a lot. But if you consider it from the angle of a doctor, you would discover it as nothing surprising. The guardians of the doctors had to spend a lot for making their kids doctors. So after being a doctor, it is obvious that he or she would try to get back that investment as soon as possible. In older days, there were not so many specialities. A single doctor was supposed to look after all sorts of ailments. But now a days, there are not so many specialities and all of them had to toil hard to attain that reputation. So they rightly deserve something in return and that is the money they charge. It is quite obvious that a good doctor will charge higher than a less reputed doctor. The only aspect which is important that whether the concerned doctor is doing justice to his profession by affording wuality treatment to his patients for which he is being paid. If he or she cheats a patient by advising unnecessary investigations or surgeries and thus exploits the helplessness of the patient, it should always be condemned. Otherwise, he or she has every right to fix his or her charge high and a patient has also the right to select his doctor as per his financial affordability. But one thing I must add here that excepting a few, there are many doctors who attend those patients either free of cost or at a comparatively low fees if those patients really need their advice.

I guess not that way it is , all are good doctors else they did not make to the Medical board exam and for that 8 years of studying Medicine. Doctor's professional fee depends on the place where the doctor is ! If the Doctor is in private hospital , shall we say an expensive hospital , naturally the doctor would be asking for a bit expensive professional fee . He has also to pay for the hospital in big amount and His tax are that high also and often he goes out of the country for seminar and training for new discoveries and update of Medical field. While some doctors are asking bit low , like our government doctors because they are already paid by our government. They have low expenses , seminar and training are back up of the government. Now if you want a bit cheap doctor , then go to government hospital. All are same good doctors. The difference there is , in private doctor can attend immediately to the patient , while in government doctor , patient have to wait because so many patients that are being attended by the doctors but for sure doctor will arrive not just so prompt.

In my insurance alone, I pay 50% of it every month. Hence, every month $240 has been taking out of my paycheck. Last two weeks I went t0 see my primary doctor. I have a co payment of $15 for the check up, $15 for the lab and $15 dollar for my medicines. I was disappointed because my doctor prescribed med that never works so since I knew that there are better med than the one the doctor gave me, I asked my mom to send me a package of medicines. Yes, after taking of the medicine my mom has sent me I was feeling better. I can tell cuz it works right away while the one my doctor has prescribed me, it takes a while and I have to suffer from pain till the med take effect. Its disappointing since it's expensive and I am not getting what I am paying for. The bad news is I cant change health provider until a certain date. Although I can change my primary doctor.

If you want to be operated on by a cheap "doctor," be my guest. You'll find one on any street corner peddling snake oils. Doctors do not charge a high fee for their services considering they spent eight to ten years to gain their MD certification through higher education.
It might help you understand why they charge "high" fees if you put your heart, sweat, and tears into and extremely competitive education. What needs to be fixed is the health system. Universal health care is the only way everyone will get affordable healthcare.

Oh yes, medical fees are very expensive, doctors' fees, medecines. One has to have the insurance coverage. Provincial subsidies are very helpful. When traveling too, travel insurance is a necessity.

Thanks a ton for sharing this discussion. Well yes u are absolutely right, doctors are charging very much these days and due to this reason many poor people are not able to consult a doctor as they know that no doctors today would offer free service to the poor people. Most of the doctors have become money minded and hence they want to earn more at the cost of people's health. I think Govt should regulate their fees and see to it that no patient is left out.
What say?

Hi friend, Doctors in this days are money minded, they forget about the humanity and work for money, really doctor job is a noble job. But most of the doctors forget about it. Still very few doctors give importance to the humanity and care about the poor people without fee, but it is really hard to see this kind of persons

There are other doctors who don't do that. Say, a government own hospitals everything is free, all the patient just need to pay is for the syringe, gauze, cotton being used and some other medications not in the hospital. Well sometimes really they are just after the money. sorry to say but, that what life is.
