Wondering What the Democrats Think About This...?

Exact quote from James Carville. “Ideologies aren’t all that important. What’s important is psychology. The Democratic constituency is just like a herd of cows. All you have to do is lay out enough si lage and they come running. That’s why I became an operative working with Democrats. With Democrats all you have to do is make a lot of noise, lay out the hay, and be ready to use the ole cattle prod in case a few want to bolt the herd. Eighty percent of the people who call themselves Democrats don’t have a clue as to political reality. What amazes me is that you could take a group of people who are hard workers and convince them that they should support social programs that were the exact opposite of their own personal convictions. Put a little fear here and there and you can get people to vote any way you want. The voter is basically dumb and lazy. The reason I became a Democratic operative instead of a Republican was because there were more Democrats that didn’t have a clue than there were Republicans. Truth is relative. Truth is what you can make the voter believe is the truth. If you’re smart enough, truth is what you make the voter think it is. That’s why I’m a Democrat. I can make the Democratic voters think whatever I want them to.” ~ James Carville, Lead Democratic Strategist for Bill Clinton Presidential Campaign, "Prominent" Democratic Political Consultant, Attorney

Snopes IS a left leaning site and the married couple who runs it ARE ardent Democrats. Snopes said they asked thinkexist.com to take it down, they haven't. http://thinkexist.com/quotation/ideologies-aren-t-all-that-important-what-s/821889.html but thanks for your opinion.

As long as there is a question as to their standing politically, I and many others do not hold to their validity. For the past few years www.snopes.com has positioned itself, or others have labeled it, as the 'tell all final word' on any comment, claim and email. But for several years people tried to find out who exactly was behind snopes.com. Only recently did Wikipedia get to the bottom of it - kinda makes you wonder what they were hiding. Well, finally we know. It is run by a husband and wife team - that's right, no big office of investigators and researchers, no team of lawyers. It's just a mom-and-pop operation that began as a hobby. David and Barbara Mikkelson in the San Fernando Valley of California started the website about 13 years ago - and they have no formal background or experience in investigative research. After a few years it gained popularity believing it to be unbiased and neutral, but over the past couple of years people started asking questions who was behind it and did they have a selfish motivation? The reason for the questions - or skepticisms - is a result of snopes.comclaiming to have the bottom line facts to certain questions or issue when in fact they have been proven wrong. Also, there were criticisms the Mikkelsons were not really investigating and getting to the 'true' bottom of various issues. I can personally vouch for that complaint. http://www.mediaite.com/tv/wake-the-fk-up-democrats-james-carville-says-you-could-lose/ judging from this Carville has been known to speak his mind AND not mince words when it comes to the Democrats....

So... that's a no on providing a source that can tell us where and when Carville said it. The nice thing about Snopes is that it doesn't matter which way they lean because when they say something is true or false they provide facts to back it up. If someone can ever actually provide a source for the statement Snopes will update the page, as they have done before. This is a sharp distinction between Snopes and, say, thinkexist.com.

Heck-- he stole my speech Seriously-- he's right. But people are like that about a lot of things, not just politics-- the environment, global warming, birth control, affirmative action..the list is nearly endless. I know a lot of republicans who would fit that description--there just weren't enough to elect Romney --they don't fact check their guys either, because their guy says what they want to hear. Of course the responsible, noble press always fact checks republicans anyway...right?

yep--you're preaching to the choir As long as we have the "responsible, ethical and vigilant press" of COURSE we will get the facts. Of course we will get the truth. Of course we will be informed of important things that will help us choose the best leader.... As my favorite columnist in Pravda said-- Bye Bye Miss American Pie--we are now the USSA. As my other favorite columnist said in the same paper (a great guy, old school hard line communist) Obama is better than their current leaders, and has better fiscal policies. Hey, nice to know the communists approve of our president and his policies. Makes my day--we are obviously in good hands. FORWARD! PRAVDA!
