This kitten is cracking me up today!

Last night I decided to pull out the humidifier and fill it up. Right after I hooked it up she was in the kitchen crying and carrying on. I think the foggy air scared her. I picked her up and held her in front of it showing her that it was not something that would hurt her.
All day today Sweetie Belle has been in the kitchen where I have it sitting jumping around trying to catch the fog that she sees coming from it. She has quite the vertical jump! Cheap entertainment for me! She now seems fascinated by it.
What sort of things do your pets do to entertain you?

My older male chases his tail too! I thought it was just a dog thing. We have a half wall on the second floor of our house that looks down into the living room. Of course that's a great perch for all the cats. But Romeo will go up there, start chasing his tail, and fall off! You'd think he'd learn - but no! The next day he's doing it again.

I live with 3 cats, so there's no limit to the entertainment in my house!
Two of the cats are adults - around 6 years. A kitten just joined the family about a month ago. When the kitten first started exploring the house, my female adult freaked out. She's a rather large cat - I'd say she's close to about 20 pounds. Unfortunately, this is fat, not large bones. She tends to lay around a lot. I've never been able to get her to be active. When she first saw the kitten, her response was to run. I've NEVER seen her run before! She ran through the house in all directions. Of course the kitten chases anything that moves. What fun for him! So here they go, big 20 pound adult tearing through the house like her life depended on it, followed closely by 6 month old tiny kitten. It was hilarious. This lasted a good ten minutes. Then all of a sudden, she disappeared and the kitten showed up just walking around the house. I thought maybe she'd had a heart attack. So I started looking for her. 20 minutes later, I found her cowering at the back of a walk-in closet behind a bunch of boxes. Hiding from a baby. Two days later she came out. Now she spends most of her days perched on top of some cabinets that are above the refrigerator. Kitten hasn't figured out how to get there yet.
Kitten is mischievious. He likes to play. His way of playing is jumping on his friends. Unfortunately, his "friends", the adult cats, don't consider him a friend yet. So he wears himself out "playing" with them and then sprawls in the middle of the living room floor. I've seen cats laze before; they're pros. But this one takes the cake. He rolls over onto his back and lets his back legs just flop to the side. I've seen this before in other cats, not often, but I've seen it. The adult cats just aren't this trusting. But the other day he was in his sprawled position and he stretched both his front paws over his head, tilted his backward, and decided to watch us. My daughter and I were in hysterics. He just laid there and watched. I tried to get a picture, I just couldn't stop laughing!

Ok, I am just sitting here laughing about your female adult cats reaction to the kitten! That poor cat had to have be traumatized to be running around like that.
This kitten usually curls up in a ball to sleep, but when you are holding her insists on laying on her back all sprawled out. I am guessing that is her way of saying rub my belly.

I've been worried about that too. She's always been on the bottom of the pecking order and has never fought it. I think this threw her a little off-kilter. But I've been told repeatedly not to get involved in their disputes unless it looks like someone is going to be physically hurt. They say it's their way of figuring out the new order. I've just put limits on it. There's generally a lot of hissing, loud meowing, paw batting, and even growling. But nobody tries to really hurt any of the others. But I don't allow that behavior on my bed. When I'm in bed, all three like to snuggle with me and I let them. It's kind of their safe harbor. When we're on the bed together, if any of them start fussing, I send the guilty parties off the bed. It's worked well. It's great to see all three of my kitties taking a nap together on my bed.
My adult male, Romeo, likes to lay in my arms on his back too. It's just so cute - of course it has to be on his terms. I'll just be sitting somewhere and he'll jump up on my lap, take a good look at me, then flip over on his back. I couldn't try to rub his belly though - he'll bite me!
I think I'd be lost without my babies.

That's really cute! One of the dogs I used to have loved to chase the vacuum. Then another dog I had, as soon as the towels were out of the dryer, wanted to dive in the middle of them because they were warm and soft. Sometimes we'd get the towels out of the dryer but they weren't warm because they'd been setting there for a while. My dad, the guy who says he isn't an animal lover, would go get a towel, warm it up in the microwave, and then put it over my dog to make him happy.

I have three cats. They are always coming up with something to do.
Since we've moved into a new place with more space, there has been a lot more "hunting" going on. The eldest, my boy, has been especially prolific in his attempts at bringing down fuzzy mice, crocheted squid and other potential threats to the household. He has also been very busy bringing me milk jug rings as presents.
Middle cat has also been doing a lot of demonstrating her hunting prowess. She is my "mighty squid huntress." I think that the smaller of the crocheted squid actually is one of her favorite toys.

If my cats ever catch any live mice, I do hope that they are kind enough not to gift them to me.
I give them many compliments for their hunting skills. I hope their very presence is enough to deter any would-be rodent invaders. However, if it isn't, we have a couple of traps set (in non-kitty areas) to eliminate that issue.

That is cute. That would make me laugh as well. Our cat is older but sometimes when I make a noise like I'm smelling something he goes crazy. It's like he wants to attack me because of it. He starts to gently bit my leg or arm if I do that. It's funny.

Yes as long as it is gentle. He is cute he just really does know what to do when I do that. At times he will try to swat my face with his paws. He doesn't have nails so that doesn't hurt either.

Something else - well a couple things - my Romeo does often is to play fetch and play hide-and-seek. I can see hide-and-seek. That just seems a cat thing - alsthough I'd never seen a cat do it. I just move around, out of sight, and he'll repeatedly look until he finds me. He never seems to grow tired of it.
But the fetch thing - I don't know about that one. I know most cats will chase anything that moves. He'll actually pick up one of his little toys, often a hair tie or the plastic off a milk jug (never REAL cat toys!) and deposit it in front of my feet. Then he sits down and looks at me. I've learned this is his cue that he wants to play fetch. As soon as I throw it, he'll take off after it. The harder to find the better. As soon as he finds it, he picks it up in his mouth, and trots back to me with it. And deposits it at my feet to do it all over again. We've done this more than 20 minutes at a time. He loves it. He'll get bored faster if I don't throw his toy somewhere that he has to work to find it. He looks so proud of himself when he finds it and trots back to me with it. Of course, he's always rewarded with some "good boys" and lots of petting.

This one likes you to toss things, but she never brings them back. She also has a bunch of toys that are not real cat toys. One of her favorites? My daughters crayons and markers. She will just bat them around the house till the sound annoys me enough to go take it from her.
She likes to rip up paper too. Remember the saying "My dog ate my homework?" In this house it is the CAT!

Each morning Khuay does his morning "jog", which is running up and down the length of the house full speed. He is a small cat, rather fine boned like the typical Siamese, so I worry about his running into something and hurting himself. So, to reinforce my concerns, one morning I was stumbling through the house half awake when Khuay started his "jog", I was crossing the kitchen when I was hit by the hurtling missile! It knocked him flat on his fanny and I had a bruise on my leg shaped like a cat's head! He wasn't hurt, he just picked himself up and was off again.
Another morning Khuay was doing his morning "jog" and was racing from my work room towards the master bedroom (I live in a 60 mobile home so it is almost totally straight from one end to the other), when Abby a 28 inch tall pit/lab mix sleepily was exiting the bathroom after her morning drink. Khuay was racing down the hallway at full speed and didn't have time to do anything except....jump! He cleared Abby by a good foot!!! Abby didn't even notice, she just sauntered towards the family room unfazed.
Life with Khuay is always a good laugh each and every day! If you live with a cat and bond with your cat you will never be disappointed. Too many people get a kitten or cat and it's on its own. When it's old enough they toss it out to roam the neighborhood. They never learn the pleasure of having their cat crawl in their lap when they aren't feeling well, and try valiantly to make the person feel better. They curl up beside you at night and sleep with you, and they always seem to know when you're having nightmares. You wake up with a start and in the crook of your neck you feel a soft, warm, furry being that is purring as hard as they can to reassure you that everything is okay. I have four cats aging from 18 1/2 years old to 4 years old and they all are more valuable to me than any gold, gems or silver.
Enjoy your Sweetie Belle, and make sure (please) to get her spayed. If you can't afford it, let your MyLot friends know and we will help out....I will be the first in line to help out!
Hug and kiss Sweetie Belle for me and my crew. Give her plenty of boxes to hide in, and check the paper sacks before you pick them up. (Khuay crawled in one one day and I picked it up and had a cat leap out of the sack to get away...startled the cr@p outta me! ) And introduce her to kitty pot! (catnip) It's easy to grow and she'll love it.

I have a room that I refer to as my "work room". It originally was the livingroom. I took it over after my Mom passed away in 2000. I make teddy bears and have stacks of fur waiting to be converted. While it is waiting, Murphy (the old lady) and Khuay love to snuggle down in the fur. It never fails that I reach for a particular piece of fur and I end up with a handful of cat!
Check with your local shelters and other humane societies. Some of them will offer coupons for assisting on spaying and neutering of your cats and dogs. Also a lot of people state that you shouldn't get a cat or dog spayed until they are 6 months of age. In an effort to control the over population, vets have discovered that kittens and puppies can be spayed and neutered as early as 12 weeks of age. I know with all my cats I had them in by the time they were 14 weeks old. Plus you don't have to suffer through their first "heat" or response to the first heat.
Also, there are some vet clinics that will operate on a sliding scale according to your income.
If you have the time, I have posted many many Khuay stories. Some of them are a real hoot! I am currently going through the stories I've posted to compile them for a book. It is the very first New Year's resolution I have made in 40 years, but I resolved to write a book based on that little guy. He is the cat in my avatar. I do worry at times because I am sure he is so much smarter than his owner!

I am familiar with the "jog" This one goes from the kitchen, through the dining room, into the living room where she runs up onto the couch and smacks into the blinds on the window before turning around and doing it all over again.
My kids have developed a little apartment complex for her. She has her cat house as well as a few cardboard boxes all lined up and stacked up. She actually prefers the boxes to the house.
Sweetie Belle is about 4 months old. I have been talking about getting her spayed, but I have not gotten around to it yet. My sister was saying that sometimes you can get it done pretty cheap at a place here in town.
This little thing is crazy enough. I can only imagine what kitty pot would do to her. I am laughing just thinking about it.

When they jump up and grab a folded pair of socks and run away with it.. the socks can sometimes be bigger than their heads, and they grab them in their mouths and just run off.. it's hilarious. Until we're all out of socks and I can't find any.. which happens daily! I just bought a brand new package for each of us, but we still can't find any socks!
