Can you relink it? It is not loading for me. Chances are if it is from a conservative, I would not be in favour of it, but I would like to read it first and then offer comment.

Sorry, apparently the link isn't working so here's another link http://www.history.com/this-day-in-history/congress-passes-communist-control-act So your statement suggests you're not a conservative?

This act is similar to the Smith Act, if you're familiar with that.

I would see the need to prevent a political party from getting into power whose intention to overthrown the us government, but there is no current worry about a violent communist takeover in America.
It would be shameful to harass people with "communist leanings", as listed in the second link you provided. That included harassing members of the ACLU, NAACP, and labour unions.
What boggles the mind is - the conservative party used to want to conserve land and our resources and water and protect animals from going extinct. This current brand of conservative disgusts me. The extreme right wing has gone bonkers, many times seeing communism or socialism where it does not exist.

You might want to read that article a little more closely. Here's the important part:
"The Communist Control Act made it clear that "nothing in this section shall be construed as amending the Internal Security Act of 1950." Thus, while the Communist Control Act may have declared that the Communist Party should be outlawed, the act itself did not take this decisive step."
In other words, nothing to enforce. Even if there had been something to enforce, a law that declares a person or group outlaw without due process is a bill of attainder, which is unconstitutional. Thus, still nothing to enforce.
Thanks for announcing that you don't support the Constitution, though!

The Venona papers, together with these archives, made it absolutely clear that the American Communist Party was from its beginning the willing agent of Soviet intelligence, obedient to its orders, financed by its contributions, and serving not only as a propaganda organ for Soviet policies but as a generous source for the recruitment of agents who would thereupon influence American policy and gladly commit espionage as well. It is now plain that by 1945 every important branch of the American government, from the White House itself to the State Department, the Defense Department, the Justice Department, the Treasury Department, the Office of Strategic Services (predecessor to the CIA), and the Office of War Information, to name only a few, was infested with Communists busily doing the work of the Soviet Union.
Moreover, it is obvious that a penetration so complete would have been impossible if the Communists had not been able to depend on the blindness or indifference of many of the far larger number of ordinary liberals who dominated the Roosevelt Administration. As early as the late 1930s, even known Communists in government were often regarded by their colleagues as merely "liberals in a hurry." And during the war, of course, they could be excused as simply enthusiasts for America's doughty ally, "good old Joe."

Frank Marshall Davis; Obama's childhood chum and mentor per Dreams From My Father. IF we had gone to war with the Soviet Union during his lifetime, Frank Marshall Davis could have been arrested as a spy.

CPUSA lawyers presented documents to the press showing that the Democratic platform of 2010, almost-line-for-line, reiterates the CPUSA platform of 1963. As the lead attorney for the plaintiffs pointed out, even a casual reading shows that while the rhetoric occasionally varies, the underlying policies are nearly identical.

If you supported the Constitution, you would understand why that sentence is a contradiction in terms.

Oh, I support the Constitution and that is why I believe that the current President is a traitor to the American people!

I lived through the Cold War and knew what' the Communists planned to do. And yet there were these Hollywood types that complained because a certain director or actors were hauled before the courts and asked "are you or have you been a member of the Communist Party." Yet these idealistic fools did not realize the danger of a communist dictatorship. People have short memories. So we have to laws like this again.

we need a lot of the laws renewed for our countries benefit. but my son says a lot of those will not be because some polititians still want our country percieved in a free good light. and other countries have looked bad on us for certain laws etc. but i think we should be more worried about our preservation.

Frank Marshall Davis of 'Dreams From My Father' fame, belonged to the communist party and his rating by the CIA was that if our country went to war he'd have been arrested immediately. THAT is fact.
Obama was quite taken with him, wrote a poem to him in college.
