Be glad it's just Thomas! My 4 year old nephew has an obsession with trains! He watches documentaries on them, makes his toys into them, and educates everyone around him about them!

My disabled son is five years old. He is keen on Thomas the Tank Engine. He has the Thomas Take Along Thomas the Tank Engine Sets and many of the little trains like Edward, Henry, Rosie and Annie. In addition he has a blue track that connects together and it includes Thomas the Tank Engine.
This summer we did a pricey day out to Mine Head by car and steam train for the Thomas the Tank Engine day out. It was raining all day however we still enjoyed ourselves. It is lovely your son is hooked on Thomas the Tank Engine and you know exactly what to get him for Christmas.

When my kid was a toddler, he also loved watching Thomas and Friends. And he collected the different character trains, too This is one of the only few TV shows that we allowed him to watch. There's very little violence (except for a few train accidents) and there's a moral in each show. The dialog was also easy to understand. I think it's the diction of the narrator being British (the original one was actually Ringo Starr of the Beatles)

I remember my sons watching them, but they weren't really hooked to it. They were more into Power Rangers; and two of them were crazy about basketball, until now... So I can only remember one Mr Thomas train among their toys possessions; but plenty of Power Rangers stuff and all kinds of (seems like hundreds) basketballs from soft, hard, small, to standard size real basketballs.
