Ways to retain the greenness of grass throughout the year

Hey all, I don't know how many of you love gardening and stuffs like keeping your lawn green etc. Well we have one small lawn where we have kept fair amount of grass with few flowers aside. But the grasses tend to die or like turn brownish post autumn season.Is there any way to keep the grasses green throughout the year?? Please say your thoughts on that or if you have got any ideas regarding this, please kindly tell so. Thank you.
