X-Factor UK - Who votes for Christopher?

So... last nights UK X-Factor finally saw the elimination of Rylan. I can't say I was too sad about it. He seems to be a decent enough chap but it was his time to go. What I found staggering though was that Christopher Mahoney wasn't in the bottom two!! He is a cruise ship singer through and through and it baffles me who voted for him? Who continues to vote for him week in week out? Am i missing something? Or is it a national conspiracy to some how have a go at Simon Cowell and his Xfactor brand by voting someone in who won't sell singles?
