I thought since its been two weeks, I better give you guys an update. I am now making the board up with the symbols. I have been doing 1 needle and switching out floss. Takes to long so now as I go I am threading the needle and placing it on a foam poster board. I put the symbol chart on there and place the needle next to the symbol.
Once done it works so much faster. Only have to thread my needle then when the floss is out.
I looked at the last picture I placed on here. On the piece itself it looks like I have done much more than the last update.
Seeing it on picture I guess I have not had as much time as I thought
Oh well with the board I got a lot more done today. After all there are only 90 different colors of floss LOL so sure glad I went back to the board idea it takes a lot of time to change out those needles!
Anyway hope you get to see the updated picture.

90 different colors! I would think you would need a big board to put all the needles in. I don't even think I have that many needles. I have a lot because you get one with every kit, but I don't think it's that many.

Yep 90! I went and bought 8 packages of needles and there are six in a package so i am half way there LoL.
I did not know there were 90 til I counted the colors today for the update.
Even I said whew LOL
I cut my foam posterboard to fit the 8x11 sheet of color chart. What I do is place that on and then just start out working and as I work I add a new needle next to the symbol on the chart that I just used with the floss.
I am going faster now since I started this.
I want to get it finished hopefully by the end of January so I can get back to my sons. So the extra needles and board will let me get the flow of stitches going again.

Thanks I always think of you when I read some of your responses and start a discussion. I need to come visit your board more often!

I can see the progress.
Are you using blue aida, or does it just look blue in the photo?
The one I'm doing for my cousin is on blue, but parts of it aren't stitched.

No its white 22ct aida or sometimes called evenweave too.
This one has a stitch for every square so no cloth will show. I like these because less counting. I only do what I can see a bunch of one color. I dont want to mess up. I usually only do 10x10 area which means 10 across and 10 down. Most of the graphs our cross stitch is on is 10x10. So that means you can work 100 stitches within that space.
I dont go outside my comfort zone when stitching with one color. But my progress should go faster now with the board.
I taught myself how to make it up and it does increase my stitching time.

Wow. I have no patience for doing crafts. I guess that is why I find myself entertaining myself by answering discussions on mylot! I have to confess that I crocheted an afghan one time and I think it turned out okay. I just was a whole lot younger and had a whole lot more patience back then.

I have quite a few ailments that cause me pain every day to do just general housework. But when I am stitching I dont notice my pain. Guess it melts into the cloth and colors. LOL. I am 60 so I am not to young anymore either. I am hoping to get a few pieces finished before I leave the earth.
PS I did not forget your frosting recipe. I will write it up tomorrow.
I just want to make sure I explain it correctly to you

Thanks for remembering the recipe. I haven't received any messages from friends yet, so you will be the first! I'm 59 and I am so grateful to G-d for my good health. I do have a couple of aches and pains on occasion when a cold front moves in because of broken bones. But for the most part, I have been blessed with good health.
