When you are out at a restaurant or having a special dinner at home which do you like as an appetizer soup or salad? What kind? Or do you prefer something else? If so,what?
I personally prefer soup.I like various kinds.Boston Market and CiCi's Pizza(believe it or not) have great chicken soup, which I love! But,my favorite soup is French Onion with swiss cheese on top.Soup is easier to eat then salad is and still leaves room in my tummy for the main course and the best part.....desert
What do you think?

I always prefer soup over salad as my appetizer. Some of my favorites are Mushroom soup and Seafood soup would be my second favorite.
Soups leaves you wanting for more so that for me is the perfect appetizer.

hi,
for me i will choose as my appetizer is the soup so that it will heat my stomach first, and i will eat salad to the last part of my eating, and most of the time in eatery or restaurant they usually prepare soup before the main course of their food.

It really depends on what the soup choices are. If there is a soup that I would like then I get the soup. Otherwise I get the salad and get Ranch dressing. My favorite soup ever is French Onion, but I will try most soups. I don't like beef with barley. Something about the barley I don't care for.

It depends on the time of the year I tend to have slad as a side in the summer, and soup in the winter. I love brocolli and chese, cauliflower and cheese, also plain chicken noodle sometimes. I actually made some soup the other day its squash adn sweet potato (I needed to purre them more as it was a little chunky) but overall good.

Thanks for sharing this discussion. Well, for me i would most likely prefer a salad. Any kid of salad would do. As an example, just a small amount of veggie salad topped with mayo sauce or any macaroni salad.

hi dfollin me too I like soup for the appetizer and most restaurants have some very good ones too.I am a great soup eater and it does leave space for the meal and any yummy dessert you decide on too. Also i am diabetic and often restaurants use dressings on salads that i cannot handle and control my blood glucose like it should be controlled.

If I go out for dinner we usually order motzeralla sticks for appetizer or something a long that line. And when I order my food I always get a side salad to go with it. At home I don't eat an appetizer before dinner. I rarely cook at home only 2 times a week then we just eat leftovers the remainder of the week or make sandwich.

When I do order an appetizer (which I often don't), it depends on what sort of restaurant I am in. For instance, if I am at an Indian place, I am likely to order vegetable samosas.
I am not likely to order a salad on its own. However, many restaurants include a salad with the dinner entree.
Even if dinner has been more than abundant (and may not have even finished all of the entree), I usually end up ordering a dessert. I will take a bite or two and then have it boxed up to go with me.

Hi
to answer your question, i love both appetizer soup and salad.
Well, but i would not be able to eat all at one go. I usually try to vary the types of appetizer. I would maybe today order soup and then the next week order salad.
Firstly, i won't get bored of it. Secondly, i get to try different things :)

I'm a salad person! I can't eat my lunch at homr without some salad, it's part of the mediterranean way of eating that I 'm used to I guess. We don't make soups as first courses in my house, but when I was in UK I really liked soups. I rememeber a particular soup that I though it would taste bad but when I tried it I loved it! It was tomato soup from Tesco but I can't remember the brand name! I can't find it here in my country but the next time I 'll plan to go back, I'll definitely have some!

I love crab and corn soup. Chinese restaurant usually serve this kind of soup and I really love it. We usually go to chinese eat all you can and just having the soup is worth the money. I dont really like salad as appetizer.
