Many people have different attitudes in life, and I meet many people who finds life boring in most cases. I felt that attitude is very important on how we are going to feel about our life, so wouldn't it be better to think of life as a challenge? Wouldn't we feel more inspired and energetic when we have some goals that excites us and some obstacles we plan to overcome? I think if we think of our lives as a challenge, more energy comes into our lives that allows us to conquer many things.
Things even becomes better when we do overcome one obstacles after another due to our changed attitude as we try to make goals of things we could accomplish more in life and obstacles that we are challenged to overcome.
What are your thoughts about this?

I do think in life we have to "keep the ball rolling" because once we stop following our dreams and become lazy; it's so hard to get going again.
But yea, the mindset should be optimistic like it's a challenge. I mean as far as I can tell all of our purposes involve change, movement, growth, pain.
When in pain we are so forgetful of the good times.
Well, New Years is coming up soon. Maybe we should all plan on doing something we usually don't do. I hear often people are suprised they could accomplish certain things.

I liked what you said about people being surprised accomplishing certain things they never thought they could. I was watching Jim Rohn youtube videos lately and he said that "if you wish to, you could DRASTICALLY change your life if you wish to," which led me to believe that we needed to change our current daily habits if it's not helping us reach our goals.

willc well said! When we are in pain, we tend to get consumed by our pain, and find it difficult to keep moving forward. We begin to live in fear that we do not want to take another misstep or do something that will bring us more pain in our life. Then worse of all, we tend to look back at happier days and feel like the best days are behind us rather than in front of us.
Well, the New Year is here, and I am striving on getting things done and being optimistic.
BetterDays, I agree that if our habits are hindering our progress in life; then we do need to find time for personal development that will give us the tools to learn good habits that will empower us to make progress in life. Is the person of whom you spoke that you were watching YouTube videos is that person someone that provides self help advice or advice or personal development?

Hi aireanna, Jim Rohn is a motivational speaker who teaches other people how to be successful in life. One of his main teachings is on how to set goals so that we might reach our goals better and faster. I do believe setting goals is very important, so I'm beginning to do more of that lately.
And may the year 2013 be the best new year for all of us.

You've made a wonderful point. Personally, I don't find life boring but full of challenges in many areas. I am challenged because in spite of my past experiences which are not so good, I am still alive. With that, I am so thankful to God. As I live one day after another, I just prayed that God would use me to give value to others in little ways I can. It is a challenge when we have goals or purpose of our existence. Those people who find life boring are those who failed to find the meaning of their existence. If they or someone helped them to find their purpose, life would be exciting and challenging.

I believe you have pointed out another good factor which is "finding the meaning of our existence" and when we do find it, then our life seems to be more exciting. I also believe that faith in God should be another factor that would help us become grateful for our life, and finding our meaning in our relationship with God should be number 1 in anyone's life and in finding the most important meaning for our existence.

I agree with you that with other people, they simply reject the chance to change their lives for the better. I like the word you used whcih is 'self-fulfilling prophecies' which shows very well how powerful our words and beliefs are and whatever we claim in our lives have the power of making them come true.
I remember the saying 'be careful what you wish for, for they could become yours' and I believe many things we do wish for comes true in our lives...so let's all wish only positive things :)

god_is_good, I am sorry to hear that you have had such adversity in your life. I know how it can be when it feels more like you have overcome the obstacles that life had put in your path, and how it seems that at times it feels like more that we are surviving life rather than living our life. I guess as they say that adversity does make us stronger.
FInding your purpose and having goals are very important. I think too that you have to learn how to keep yourself motivated because you can have great goals for your life, but you will only accompolish your goals if you remain motivated because some goals take a long time to achieve.
I have noticed that some people resist wanting to have a purpose in their life. Even when you try to help them to find meaning in their life they sometimes just want to negatively perceive their life. I think this is sad when people want to create negative self-fulfilling prophecies for their life rather than seeing all the opportunties that life holds.

I am one of the people that tends to think that there are some times that life is challenging and there are other times that life is very boring. When I get stuck in doing the same things all the time, those are the times that I find life to be boring. However, when I am looking for different things that I can do with my life, those are the times that I find life to be somewhat of a challenge.
I do look for challenges in my life on a regular basis and make up my own challenges when I can't find any challenges that are outside my own making.
I do think that life needs to have variety and that is the main thing that makes life worth living.

Perhaps, the challeng is to keep your daily routine from seing boring. What modifications can you make to the daily routine so that you do not find it boring? Spice it up a little so that your daily routine is interesting rather than dull. Think about it we do not like to eat a bland diet every day rather we like a variety of dishes with lots of tasty spices that add flavor. Add some flavor to your daily routine.

I agree. Doing new things...variety makes life more interesting. Someone I think even said that 'variety is the spice of life'.
Yes, I believe it's also up to us to make our lives less boring or to put it in a better way, to make our lives more exciting and interesting.

I tend to find life filled with challenges that we must overcome. Sometimes, I feel like it would be nice if life could be a little less challenging. I have had lots in life that I have overcome, and sometimes I get tired of life being so vastly challenging. Sometimes, it would be just nice to have a day or two here and there that are not filled with challenges to overcome.
Yes, I have spoken with people who think that life is boring. I cannot understand how life can be boring when there is always so much to do. I sometimes feel a little overwhelmed at all the things that there is to be done, but little by litle I am learning how to manage everything.

You seem to be a very active person and living an exciting life, aireanna. i think what you're looking at sometimes is a chance to have more relaxation, and I believe all people needs a time to rest, especially those who are working so hard.
In my case, I trying to find time for meditation and I think rest and relaxation starts within ourselves so I find that the best way to relax is through prayers and meditation.

Hardly I find my life is a boring one because I always have things to do that make me feel alive. I like to learn something new, I like to try new hobby and it's really fun. Sometime we get bored from this life because of routine, so when I get bored from the routine I took break for a while and do something to refresh my mind. I think life is a balance, there is time to set a goal and there is another time for us to be relax and not put too much pressure in our self. It is good to set a goal but we also need to learn when we couldn't reach the goal, perhaps we are not meant to be in that field or else we are prepared for something else. It's a challenge to accomplish our goal, but it is also a challenge to prepare ourself in the hardest situation and to set another goal in case plan A didn't work out.

Yes, I agree that people needed to be flexible as well. It's important to know when one needs to set different goals when one is not working anymore. I like it when you said that there is time to set goals and a time to relax. I remember the Biblical verse when the Lord said there is time for eating and time for sleeping, a time for working and a time for resting, etc...I can't remember all the words but it says there clearly what you were trying to share in this discussion.
I feel that preparation too is important if we want to have better results with our lives. Yes, trying out new things would be good to break out from the routine in our lives. Many good ideas you share here :)

For me life is always a challenge and boredom is one of the challenges life could give. Many people find life boring maybe because they tend to stop their dreams and ambitions once they encounter failure. So it is better to keep moving and face challenges that may come in your life and learn every lesson you get from that challenges that it can be use as weapon or tool to success in every challenges you face, so therefore life is a full of challenges to those people who keep moving and boring to those people who do nothing.

I agree so much with what you said, regz and may I add that usually those who face their challenges ends up victorious in the end. I mean, there are a lot of success stories being told anywhere and they share that before they face their great success, they need to face a lot of difficult challenges along the way and if they didn't focus to their goals and keep fighting but were affected by the difficulties and challenges they have faced, they wouldn't have been the success they had become.
I even feel that the more difficult the challenge that we face, the more rewards we would get in overcoming them. It is those challenges that strengthens one's character and makes us face any challenges that comes our way more easily. It's those who didn't face challenges in life which would be considered weak and lacking in character.

I like this way of thinking. I've actually set some goals for myself, and this is regarding health. I've met up with a friend once just to catch up. He was fit. I got surprised since I used to go with this person to the gym and I was more fit than he was. He told me to stick with a routine and I should be fine. So now, I've composed a couple of workout routines that I do daily, no matter what time of the day it is. I make sure that I don't miss even one since I also have a target weight for next year. It will sort of be my New Year's resolution. I gotta say, if I didn't set any goals but still kept working out, I won't be this disciplined on doing it. Plus, it helps if the routines vary because it keeps them interesting.

Good luck to your renewed fitness goals, frontvisions.
Being fit is really a very desirable goal and is actually one of my main goals as well this coming New Year. Yes, I believe consistency is one of the secrets of having a fit and healthy body so I will also try to make fitness schedules which includes what types of exercises I plan to do for each day.
I think new types of exercises comes out each year which becomes popular and then are replaced by newer types of exercises which becomes fad. I remember pilates were popular back then, but now I don't see a lot of people doing it anymore. I wonder which is the newest thing in fitness nowadays...

Hi BD4me!
I went through a lot of challenges and failures in my life already. There was a time in my life that I think of giving up already. Until I was able to find the job in the government although I know that my skill is not perfectly fitted for this kind of job. I thought it was okay already. But I was wrong. there are still a lot of things that I should learn and sometimes I feel I am not learning anything. But just as it should be, I have to continue even though I know things are harder on my part as compared to others who think of the challenges as a piece of cake.
As of now I am continuing with my battle. I am not sure up to what point I could take but as long as I can manage, I will not give up. Life indeed is full of challenges.
Have a nice day!

Hello ARIES!
First of all, I want to wish you good luck to your new challenge in life. I honestly believe that in every challenge, there will always be a good solution to turn out victorious to any challenges we face. The attitude we have and the steps we make for overcoming those challenges are some of the important factors involved. I would also say that it's important to learn how to motivate ourselves so that we could be motivated to face our challenges on a daily basis. And instead of feelings of fear or boredom, we replace it with feelings of excitement and anticipation of being victorious to all our challenges. Of course, prayers help a lot as well.

Life can't be boring is can never become a boring one. Life is full of colors. I think people tend to think life is a boring one if we will let it to be. God is the author of our life and we are given the privilege to live a life that is full of colors and many adventures. It can't be bored and if it is it's because we chose to have this kind of life. We have to change our perspective towards life, there is more than we can imagine.

I also believe that our attitude is the one factor that helps determine if we find life boring or exciting. So I believe it's good to start changing our attitude and look for what's good in our surroundings and in our own lives. The next step is probably to try to make our lives in a way that we could challenge ourselves to experience better things by improving ourselves in many areas of our lives.

Anyone who says that life is boring should get a rope and hang himself. (no offense meant please, no a violent reaction too). I don't like to misquoted this time for judging people, but hey, life, boring? come on. There are lots of everyday challenges and problems coming in and out. After solving a problem another will surely comes in. Every action there is a corresponding reaction. In every decision there is always a consequence, may it be good or bad consequence or reaction. Life is a cycle so if it is flat why this bored person still exists. No reason for this person to live. I don't like to envy those with boring lives, come on nothing to do here on earth, just to eat and breathe? wow. I can't imagine myself such like that if this happens to me, i will be better of none existence anymore.

You seem to have a lot of energy in you, Mavic and it's admirable. I sure hope no bored person follows your advice to get a rope, unless to use it to play skip rope or play cowboy. LOL
Yes, I like your attitude that there are always a lot of interesting things to do and people should never get bored. Although I felt this may not be the case all the time as people have different circumstances, but nevertheless that type of attitude I believe could conquer many difficulties one face in life.
I wish you keep on having that strong energy in you, bro

To be honest it is both for me. At some points I am like "phooey, life is boring, I am going to try to jump from the roof to my trampoline." Then I face the challenge with the reply "phooey... I broke my arm... how the hell am I going to do my take home test..?" So, because of my boredom I try doing something stupid, that gives me a challenge... that I usually fail at. I am joking! Although that happened before... I think life has many challenges for me... I just skip the obstacles... For example I went to a hotel with my luggage recently, saw stairs, saw elevator, then thought about my options, and went with listening to some weird elevator music... For some there are challenges approaching us, but we choose to avoid it.

I would never recommend challenges that could be detrimental to one's health or one's life...lol.
Anyway, I'm glad you weren't more seriously injured in that situation.
I'm curious about the elevator music that you heard, how does an elevator music sound like?
Anyway, I believe you're right in saying that the options we take could lead us to feel bored or excited. It's up to us to make the right choices.

The way you think and look at things is very important. If you think negative it will always seem so crappy. You aren't always going to see the silver lining in things and that is okay but its good to be positive and try to see the bright side of things.
