Christmas is getting nearer!

I am just wondering how any of you are feeling that Christmas is getting nearer. How do you feel right now and what sentiments are coming into your mind? I think many people nowadays are thinking Christmas is more of a burden due to all the expenses it would entail them in buying lots of gifts to many people including the stress of preparing Christmas parties and the likes. Another attitude I have seen that many adult people talk about is that Christmas is only for little children. I would agree that little children have more fun when it's Christmas time but I don't believe that adults don't have the 'right' or the opportunity to find joy and pleasure in this most special holiday for Christians and non-Christians alike. How about you, what are your sentiments this coming Christmas?

hi! i actually haven't started completing the ones on my list yet. i have been busy with a couple of projects and seminars i conducted as well as those i've participated in. the only time we sat down to talk over our christmas plans, we were preparing our menu list. as there are 30 in the family, plus an assortment of relatives and friends spending the holidays with us... the food has to cater to different wants and palates. i'll probably do my christmas shopping next week, gift wrapping and groceries the following week. much is centered on children this holiday season. but it's not just them. for me it's a time to be with family and friends to celebrate, give cheers and share blessings. of all the festivities throughout the year, this is often the most anticipated by kids and adults alike be it because of religion, culture or family tradition.

Hello mylesnarvaez, I didn't know you have such a big family. Anyway, it seems that your task is a difficult one with concern to preparing food for Christmas but I guess when you're doing it year after year, these things becomes easy and second nature with you. Yes, I believe the children do have the priority and making sure that they have the most enjoyable Christmas experience this year. It is up to us adults to enjoy the Christmas season the best way we can because as I said before, Christmas is for everyone, for the young and the not so young. May everyone have a blessed Christmas season!

15 nephews and nieces. the youngest is about 8 months old in the pic. the extended families of my married siblings visit us at the homestead during the holidays and some of them stay with us. from christmas eve, christmas day, feast of our patron saint... all the way to new year... our house will have an abused kitchen (lolz), at least 3 cable tv on, at least a dozen laptops and ipads, at least 2-3 tables playing poker, a table of mahjong, a beyblade tournament and a driveway full of bingo players. in terms of food...actually it gets harder year after year because we try to think of something different every year. although we do have our mainstays. hehe but usually we ask the kids what they want to eat and start our menu list from there.

Wow, you put up a picture of a very closely knitted family. That is great! I feel not so many families are like yours, so I would say you are enviable. If ever you need help in finishing the food, just call me Anyway, what is a beyblade? First time I heard of that word. Your niece really has a very cute smile I wonder now if you are married or have some children of your own, because I guess you will place your child's picture if you have one instead of your niece. Good day!

I share in your sentiments, Anne. If only it's possible that it's Christmas everyday. Well time flies so fast that the moment this year's Christmas is over, the next Christmas comes along without us noticing it. Anyway, I do hope you had a wonderful Christmas celebration.

I am looking forward to Christmas, although I haven't started preparing for anything yet, so I have few presents made, no baking, cooking, nor decorating done, and should probably be panicking. I'll panic next week though.

Yes, I guess it's still too early to buy many gifts for Christmas. It may be good to write one's Christmas plans and try to visualize what could make this Christmas more meaningful and successful than the last Christmas. Well, I hope you won't panic much when Christmas is very near

i love Christmas but feel sad that it is so commercialized. it takes away from the real meaning of the season. i find that even certain family members seem very commercialized in the stuff that they want. its not all about the gifts.

I would agree with what you have just said. In that case, I believe families should have a lot more get togethers and outings and different types of bondings on special occasions like Christmas instead of the usual opening of gifts and having the usual get-together in one's house with lots of food to eat. Probably going to church together and then eating out after that could be another good idea :)

You know, I do know that Christmas is a huge burden for some people because of the fact that the holiday can be something that is very expensive. However, I will never be one of the people that things that Christmas is a burden because I've always been one of those people that loves everything about Christmas. I really like all of the decorations, Santa Claus, giving gifts to friends and family members (and also strangers as well occasionally) and most of all I love the fact that I get to see my family during the holiday season.

Same here, dorannmwin. All those decorations and Christmas carols being sung and played gives one feel the Christmas spirit.

Me too. Little by little I am seeing more Christmas decors in my area. There are those who have Christmas lightings already, while others have parol decors in their houses while others even have Santa Clause mini statue displayed outside their house. Sure is the best time of the year for me as well.

I'm excited since it will be my son's second Christmas. Last year he was quite young to really enjoy the season. Me and my husband is planning to bring him in a leisure park near our place on the second week of December wherein Santa would be on their hotel, I hope my son sits on his lap :) I know he will enjoy more opening gifts this year compared to last year.

Christmas is one week away now!! It was funny this morning in my house as I was wrapping a few gifts to taske to work this morning and I laughed, the children asked why I was laughing and I replied, that this time next week they would be busy unwrapping gifts. They saw the joke and thought it was very funny as well.

I feel sorry for you, working so hard to wrap those gifts then just to be unwrapped by little children...haha It's really great seeing our children or nephews/niece unwrap their gifts and see the joy in their faces oftentimes to the point of shouting. I used to be one who don't believe that Christmas is for little children, but now I honestly believe it is 'mostly' for little children because they had the most fun. Although I stick with my idea that it doesn't mean older people can't enjoy the Christmas season, but it's just a fact that they can't enjoy it as much as these little children does. Merry Christmas!

I just wanna add and share one Christmas moment when one of my nephew who is about 1 year old received a gift and when he opened up the gift wrap, you know what he did? He throws away the gift and treasures the gift wrap and holds it lovingly in his arms. haha

I was feeling sad until I started doing working on some of my homemade gifts then my spirits picked up. Now I am so excited and next week I will do my Christmas shopping. I love buying gifts, making gifts, baking cookies and decorating the house. I have my tree up, but have not decorated it yet and will be putting my Christmas displays later on this week. I am also doing an online graduate school and will be working hard to get the class done as much as I can so I can enjoy the holidays.

It's good to hear how the Christmas season is helping you be in a better state of mood. I think I find people the kindest in this season and probably also the happiest. Doing those simple things like preparing gifts and buying them are all enjoyable activities indeed. The last month at the end of each year is the best time to reflect which things you value most like your family and friends as well as your faith in God and Christ our Savior.

Hi BetterDays! I really feel ambivalent about Christmas. On one hand i feel happy because its holiday season and i will be spending more days at home doing the things i cannot do because everyday is devoted to work. I also anticipate getting together with family and have fun with them celebrating the birthday of Jesus Christ. On the otherhand i feel uncomfortable thinking about gifts i should be giving to loved ones and friends. I don't have much money and after the holidays i must save for the tuition fees next school year and the bills. Well, i think God will make me survive this season anyway. He will make a way, right.

Hi triplejazzm51, yes I do believe God will always make a way for us. Getting together with family members should be one of the most memorable events, making our Christmas season the happiest. So let's all try to keep our differences aside and try to love everyone unconditionally to have the best possible Christmas celebration, and then let's try to continue doing so in the beginning of next year and the years to pass.

I can feel the spirits already. This season is for everyone, not just for the children. Its not stress for me to prepare gifts like wrapping and decorating the house. Its fun for me and its my hobby too. Actually, before the month of december, we already bought gifts for our loved ones so when the christmas is near theres no shopping rush. In christmas, we just love to spend time together, eating festive foods and opening gifts. Merry Christmas!

I hope you fully enjoyed your Christmas celebration, liezel. Anyway, I used to have a cat that looks similar to your picture. Come to think about it, pets could be good gifts especially for those who desire to have one :)
